Abstract

The chair has a frame (10) fixed to its underside, and a pivotable holder (22) for its back support. It also has a further pivotable holder (19) for its support column. The gas springs (25,48), on activation, permit the holders (19,22) to pivot. Their operating arm (32) is rotatable in opposite directions, and also raisable vertically. When it turns in the one direction, the arm releases the one gas spring (25) to permit pivoting of the relevant holder (19), and when it turns in the other direction, the other gas spring (48) is released with corresp. pivoting of the other holder.
