Abstract
A voltage source (32) is connected to the separator (1) for energy feed, and builds up an electrical field acting in a main direction in the intermediary space between the emission (2) and precipitation electrodes (3). The field causes dust in a medium to cleaned to adhere to the precipitation electrodes. Between the voltage source and the dust separator are located primary electrical coupling units and/or diodes (35-39) which may be controlled to activate the ruling electrical field in an opposite direction, so that the dust, gathered on the electrodes receives a reduced attraction force to the electrodes as the result of the altered field strength. The dust, at least partly, loses its adherence to the electrodes and by its own weight drops downwards for collection in a pocket for removal from the separator.
