Abstract

Stop device for stopping elongated objects, such as lumber, which are transported in their longitudinal direction. The stop device comprises a stop face against which the object is stopped. In this invention, the stop device (1) has a box-shaped, hollow body (10) whose one wall is at least in part made up of a flexible sheet (13) that faces in toward the inner space of the box (10), as well as a sheet of plastic material. This sheet (13) forms the stop face for the object's end face. The inner space of the box (10) contains a material that is free-flowing even after compaction. The material does not completely fill up the inner space of the box. In the preferred design shape, the sheet (13) is only fastened to the box-shaped body (10) at two of its opposite sides (15, 16).<IMAGE>
