Abstract

The invention relates to marine acoustic antennas of the "streamer" type. It consists, in order to allow such a streamer to withstand substantial overpressure without breaking or dilating irreversibly, in spiral-winding over a sleeve something like a cord (11) which firstly can stretch elastically and secondly can stop extension of the sleeve by withstanding the forces due to overpressure. For that, the cord comprises an elastic core (20) covered by a cross-woven fabric (21); each of these elements fulfilling one of these two functions. It makes it possible to hang relatively long portions of streamer in the open air vertically. <IMAGE>
