Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of dimethylaminomethyl-substituted polyacrylamide by Mannich reactions, in which an aqueous polyacrylamide solution is first prepared and dimethylamine and formaldehyde are then added with gentle agitation, the reaction taking 72-120 hours at a temperature of below 25 DEG C. A catalyst for increasing the reaction rate has likewise been developed.
