Abstract

The invention is a fibre-optic device for measuring physical or chemical quantities with at least one light source (1, 2) which is designed to emit light in at least two separable wavelength ranges in optical connection to a sensor (11), whose spectral properties concerning reflection or transmission are arranged to be changed by the measurement quantities. The device is unique in that information on the measurement quantity is available distinctly from detected intensities in light reflected or transmitted from the sensor in at least two of the said wavelength ranges, and that the device is designed to receive light originating from photoluminescence from a photoluminescent material (25) built into the sensor (11), which partly luminesces, partly reflects or transmits incident light. The intensity from the received light is intended to compensate the device for optic deficits in fibre seams or the like with the help of circuits (28, 31, 30, 20, 21).<IMAGE>
