Abstract

The invention relates to a knitted stocking having an elastic portion at the upper end of the leg of the stocking. This stocking is arranged such that the elastic portion comprises an outer part (10) which forms a stronger elastic portion, and another part (12) located inwardly of the stronger part, which forms a weaker elastic portion and a stitch guard.
