Abstract

A device for vertically oriented shifting of boards (1), which are fed forward and transverse one by one by means of a transverse conveyor, and positioning of boards depending on the thickness of their top end of which the device, specially designed for positioning of side boards for the following top cutting, has a board thickness gauge (6) arranged on one side of the conveyor with an adjustable column (7) in the boards direction of thickness. Further, the device has a driver for lengthwise (L) positioning of boards (1) on the transverse conveyor across its front feeding direction and introduction of their top ends in the gauge, at which this limits the lengthwise positioning. The gauge (7) marks off surfaces (7a, 7b) which are movable in the same direction as the front feeding direction but non-shiftable across this so that the boards after positioning by the gauge can be fed further while retaining their positions. The column surfaces are preferably driven at the same speed as the transverse conveyor.<IMAGE>
