Abstract

A windlass is used to lift and lower a vibrator (10) along a vertically orientated track (5) which has bent-over edge parts (6). The vibrator comprises a holder (4) in which a vibrating unit (12) is housed, and levers (13) pivotably located on the holder. The levers have recesses (22,23) which engage around the bent-over edges of the track to guide the vibrator along it. A power cylinder (31) drives the levers to cause them to press the holder to vibration-transmitting contact with a mould (3) via a rail comprising part of the track. The power cylinder and the vibrator are driven from the same source, pref. a compressed air unit, for simultaneous activation.
