Abstract

A proximity fuze (10) for anti-tank projectiles (2) is to allow greatly increased ignition intervals with at the same time little approach spread of the occurrence of its ignition pulse (11) for optimizing the effect of a hollow charge (3), without having to allow for the constructional and handling disadvantages of correspondingly elongated snorkels for the mechanical forward placement of an impact contact. For this purpose, the proximity fuze (10) exhibits a combination of an inductively operating magnetic sensor (12) and an opto-electronically operating triangulation sensor (13); an AND gate (15) only outputting the ignition pulse (11) when not only one inductively obtained detection signal (16) is present because of approach to a ferromagnetically armed target but, in addition, an evaluating circuit (19) supplies a distance signal (18) from the approach-dependent variation of the opto-electronic reflection signal (24) when the predetermined ignition distance has been reached. The magnetic sensor (12) and the triangulation sensor (13) and their electric circuits are installed in a two-part annular housing (9) which concentrically surrounds, after installation behind a projectile cap (7), the channel (7), for the propagation of the hollow charge spike through the front area of the projectile (2), but which can be manufactured, tested and operationally supported independently of this.
