Abstract

This invention refers to a method and plant for reducing oxidic material while simultaneously generating a gas suitable for recovering heat energy. Through heat energy coming from plasma generator of at least one separated gas generating vertical furnace to produce reducing gas mainly containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen from material containing carbon or hydrocarbon. After optional sulfur separation and temperature adjustment,gas thus obtained is introduced to the reducing vertical furnace containing oxidic material. The partially consumed gas from the reducing vertical furnace is de-watered and de-dusted. Afterward, a part of the gas is used for heat generation, and another part returns back to the process.
