Abstract

The flashing, to seal the hole where a chimney, or similar, passes through a roof skin, comprises a watertight-fastened flexible panel-type piece, and cylindrical enclosing collar piece. It is formed from an unworked piece (1) of expanding rubber, synthetic rubber or similar, with a round hole (2) smaller than the chimney cross-section. - The flashing assembly is drawn over the chimney from the top, and is forced to stretch. When lowered, it forms the collar piece shaped to conform to the chimney. Its height then depends on the size of its hole, and the external dimensions of the chimney. It may be vulcanised, or otherwise corrugated or shaped to fit the roof covering profile. (Dwg.4/6)
