Abstract
In this method, the value of the adjustment of the electrode or electrodes of an electrical arc furnace, which value is used for electrode control, is determined in that a conductor (3') is moved in a manner relative to a transmitter coil (2) which is supplied with AC current at the same time as the adjustment of the electrode or electrodes, in that at least one electrical value of the system is continuously changing, and in that this continuously measured value is used as a measure for the value of the adjustment to be determined. The device intended for carrying out this method is constructed such that the transmitter coil (2) which is supplied with AC voltage has an annular core (16) provided with a gap (15), and the conductor (3'), which consists of a V-shaped strand, is arranged such that it can be guided in the gap (15) in its longitudinal extent, essentially parallel to the axis of the associated electrode (30), such that the cross-sectional area of the gap (15) covered by the conductor (3') can be continuously varied. In this case, the conductor (3') is mounted in an insulated manner at both ends of a lifting cylinder (23) which causes the electrode adjustment. <IMAGE>
