Abstract
A multiple circuit brake system is proposed, in which a pneumatic and an electric brake circuit supply the front axle brakes and the rear axle brakes in an overlapping control. Between the two brake circuits a measuring point (5, 6) is provided for determining the braking power entering each brake circuit, and a compensating device (12, 13, 16, 17) is used, by means of which the more advanced braking power in one brake circuit can be reduced by the same amount as the lagging braking power in the other brake circuit increases. The sum of the braking powers then generates the required braking effect. In this way both brake circuits, that is the electric brake circuit and the lagging pneumatic brake circuit are always operative and an operating check occurs on each braking. The brake system can be used for preference on commercial vehicles. <IMAGE>
