Abstract

A filter device formed out of pleated filter material which, by a tightening process, is joined to a flow channel so that that medium which is to be filtered must pass through the material. Via pleating, a large filter material surface can be accommodated in a restricted space. The device (1) consists partly of a pipe shaped filter material body (2), which is formed via the curving of the pleated material into a pipe shape and is joined with its end-pleat so that the pleat's folding edges partly form the pipe-body's exterior, and partly its inner surface with the pleats' end edges (12) tightly aligned to each other, and partly of at least one sheet type filter material body (3), which is formed by joined at the respective end-pleats to each other so that the pleats' folding edges form the sheet type body's axial surface standing in opposition to each other, with the pleats inner and outer end edges (10, 9) tightly joined to each other. The sheet type filter material body (3) is designed to close off one end of the pipe shaped filter material (2). Alternatively, two sheet type filter material bodies (3) can be arranged to close off both ends of the pipe shaped filter material (3). In this way, the medium which is to be filtered can flow between the cavity (18), which is formed in the filter device's (1) interior, and which is joined to the flow channel, and its outside, via the pipe shaped filter material body as well as via the, or those, sheet type filter material bodies.<IMAGE>
