Abstract
The invention relates to a high-voltage insulator which is primarily used in power supply devices. The aim of the invention is to develop a technically simple high-voltage insulator which is technologically cost-effective. The object of the invention is to design an insulating body structurally such that all the material which is used is used for transmitting the mechanical stress, the electrical requirement being satisfied at the same time, and is achieved in that the cross-section is an equilateral polygon, preferably an equilateral triangle, having corners which are more or less rounded off which, along the rod axis, is continuously rotated around said rod such that the multi-start helix produced represents the electrically required leakage breakdown path. The main field of application of the invention is the production of insulators. <IMAGE>
