Abstract

The invention concerns a gripping apparatus (1) of a vacuum type for lifting full bags (3).It has been shown, that with this type of apparatus, it is difficult to bring about a sufficiently reliable grip on the bags (3) because of unsatisfactory sealing between the vacuum grip device and the bag while being lifted.Significantly improved operation has been achieved in a simple manner by the invention. This essentially consists of a part of the material of the bag being sucked into a part of the gripping apparatus (1) until it comes up against a ring shaped seal (7), against which the bag material is sucked until in sealing alignment with a radial inward facing sealing surface (10) in the seal ring (7).<IMAGE>
