Abstract

A stable structure comprises two or more layers of fibre wadding. A reinforcement is placed between at least two of the layers and they are fixed together with the reinforcement at least partially enclosed between them. - The layers of fibre wadding include some thermoplastic fibres or a component in a bicomponent fibre which has a lower melting point than the remaining fibres. In an initial forming operation a recess is formed to hold a reinforcement. The layers can then be stamped into the desired shape and heated to fuse them together.
