Abstract

A wood working saw comprises a blade (1) from one edge of which projects a series of saw teeth (2, 3). The teeth (3) extend further in the plane of the blade by a chosen amount (x) beyond the remainder of the teeth (2) and are used to start the saw cut. The teeth (2) are sharpened and set in the customary manner to alternately opposite sides of the blade and the teeth (3) are sharpened similarly but have either a lesser degree of set to either side of the blade or are not set at all with respect to the teeth (2). Provision of the large teeth (3) enables a more accurate starting cut and also facilitates the removal of surplus material from the bottom of the saw cut, while reducing the effort needed for sawing. <IMAGE>
