Abstract
Prodn. of impregnated sheet of mineral fibres is described. It contains 60-100% mineral fibre, 0-40% cellulose of mechanical pulp, 0-40% cut glass fibre. The pulp concn. is less than 1 g/l. The sheet is then treated with a curable adhesive at a level of 5-20% on the wt. of sheet. It is cured on a drying cylinder or by using a stream of hot air. The bound sheet can be stored for later treatment or impregnated with an organic binder of the filled latex type where the ratio of binder to filler is between 1:1 and 1:10 by weight. ProvisioProvides mineral fibre sheets having good thermal and mechanical properties. (Provisional Basic previously advised in Week 8351).
