Abstract

An encodable key comprises a grip part and a section which can be encoded. This section comprises a number of limited fields with specific dimensions which are simply altered by being removed or blocked, thus, imparting a unique code format to the key. The lock system used with the key has a keyhole into which the key is inserted, a lock bolt and a stop. The keyhole contains a current source activator whose action is brought into play or cancelled by the key being inserted or withdrawn from the hole. When activated, the current source feeds probes which monitor the key code content. A memory and comparisons circuit when there is concidence between the key code contents and that of the circuit, feeds current to an electromagnet. This magnet withdraws a stop, freeing the lock bolt. (Provisional Basic advised week 84/32).
