Abstract

The mechanical structural component comprises a sleeve (2) inside which a bar (1) slides longitudinally, giving a telescoping action. One or both of these, pref. the bar, contains a number of axial grooves (3) in its surface directed towards the other one. Strips of elastic material (4) pref. plastics, are clamped in the grooves, from which they protrude. The strips take up the clearance between the two parts and act as shoes, reducing friction between the parts. The strips are pref. of circular cross-section and the grooves of rectangular cross-section. The strips can be solid, or in the form of plastics-insulated electric wires, or of pipes handling gas or liq.
