Abstract

The invention relates to a device for handling and holding a web of material 3, such as drawings, maps and charts, which can be made into a roll 3A in any position. The device comprises a holder 1 in the form of a block, which has a cavity in the form of a recess that is like a drilled hole and preferably has a circular cross-section. This recess extends across the holder 1 and resembles a tunnel. This cavity is adapted to house the web of material 3 in the rolled-up form along a substantial part of the roll 3A viewed along its axis of rolling. Furthermore, a through opening extends across the holder 1 from the recess to the outside of a holder supporting part that can be placed against a supporting surface 10A. The web of material 3 can be freely rolled out or in through the said opening by moving the holder 1 relative to the web of material 3, suitably by passing the holder 1 along the said supporting surface 10A. A block 1 or 1 <1> can be suitably used at each rollable end 3A of the web of material 3 when holding it or laying it out. <IMAGE>
