Abstract
A lesion apparatus, primarily concerned with achieving the killing of tissue, using the appliance of heat for the coagulation of biological tissue, such as a blood vessels etc, and involving a power unit (2) for the generation of electric lesion energy via a connected lesion apparatus (1); for example, consisting of pincers whose arms constitute two electrodes designed for use with the tissue where the lesion is to be applied. A unit is arranged which regularly monitors that tension and current being applied to the lesion apparatus and establishes the momentary impedance occurrence on the tissue which lies between the lesion apparatus's two pincer-arm electrodes. The unit consists of a computer facility (5), or the equivalent, which on the basis of that series of parameter values above the momentary impedance, is designed to establish, during the lesion phase's duration, the longest impedance value; that is, that impedance value at which the impedance for the tissue has stopped decreasing and begins rising again. The computer facility (5) is designed, according to a predetermined time frame (the after-burn period), to generate a cessation signal to the power unit (2), which is thereby designed to cease the provision of lesion energy to the lesion apparatus (1), whereby the lesion session is stopped.<IMAGE>
