Abstract

A materials handling device has a gripper assembly (12), for taking hold of and stacking the material, so arranged as to be capable of being moved along a transport track (10, 11). Along the transport track are arranged three or more limit switches (A, B, C) for the purpose of defining three or more stop positions for the gripper assembly (12). At least two of the limit switches (B, C) may be moved along the transport track so as to enable at least two of the stop positions to be changed independently of each other. The device may include means for sensing the distance travelled by the gripper assembly (12) along the transport track (10, 11), thus enabling the gripper assembly (12) to stop at pre-programmed positions. <IMAGE>
