Abstract

The present invention concerns a method of manufacturing a wheel rim and is especially suitable for such rim materials as have relatively low plasticity, such as aluminium. The method according to the invention involves the forming of a recessed peripheral middle track in the rim blank and machining it so that the material in the track obtains higher strength and lower plasticity than the other material of the rim. The difference in strength and plasticity between these different portions of material in the rim blank allows a displacement of material during subsequent forming processes and helps form the tyre- fixing portions in the rim blank. <IMAGE>
