Abstract

The invention relates to a process for the purification of phosphoric acid by the elimination of magnesium in conjunction with the neutralization of phosphoric acid in two stages. The first neutralization stage gives a precipitate, which is separated off. The ratio by weight between fluorine and magnesium in the filtrate is then controlled until the F:Mg ratio lies in the range between 1.5:1 and 0.5:1. The second stage of neutralization is then carried out in the conventional manner, and the precipitate thus formed is separated off.
