Abstract
The use of chelating ion-exchanger resins for treating substrates contaminated with heavy metals is described. If plants are grown on such contaminated substrates, this has damaging toxic effects on plants or humans. The use of the abovementioned ion-exchanger resins avoids this damage or reduces the heavy-metal residues. Particularly suitable chelating ion-exchanger resins are those which contain an N-(poly)alkanecarboxylic acid as chelating group.
