Abstract

A battery cell (100), comprising : an electrode assembly (107) comprising a connective tab (108) for forming an electrical connection extending from a first side (107a) of the electrode assembly (107) and comprising a first side edge (223) and a second side edge (224) separated by a distal edge (222); a current collector (109) extending along the first side (107a) of the electrode assembly (107) configured to connect to the connective tab (108) for electrically coupling the connective tab (108); an insulating element (210) extending along the first side (107a) of the electrode assembly (107) comprising a main body (211) having a first peripheral ridge (216a) extending longitudinally from a first side of the main body (211), a second peripheral ridge (216b) extending longitudinally from an opposed, second side of the main body (211), and a third peripheral ridge (220) extending between first and second peripheral ridges, the third peripheral ridge (220) configured to provide for electrical insulation of one of the first (223) and second side edge (224) from the casing (102).
