Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for producing completely thermally stabilized agglomerated lignin, the method comprising the steps of a) providing agglomerated lignin having an average particle size in the range of from 50 to 500 pm; and b) heating the agglomerated lignin to a temperature in the range of from 140 to 300 °C for a time period of at least 30 minutes, so as to obtain completely thermally stabilized agglomerated lignin. The present invention also relates to completely thermally stabilized agglomerated lignin and a method for producing a carbon enriched material obtained by subjecting the completely thermally stabilized agglomerated lignin to heat treatment.
