Description
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to door lock arrangements for mounting in doors. ln particular, it is herein disclosed a door lock arrangement comprising a locking piece for engagement with a casing of the door lock arrangement, wherein the locking piece is accommodated in an excavation of a locking bolt assembly.
BACKGROUND
Door lock arrangements have a vast range of applications, such as at hotels, hospitals, offices, or the like.
For certain applications, electric door locks, for example solenoid locks, are particularly popular. A common type of solenoid locks is activated, e.g. unlocked, by means of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag, a magnetic card or the like. With a solenoid lock of this type, a locking mechanism of the solenoid lock cannot be operated through actuation of a door handle unless the solenoid lock is electrically activated.
ln other applications, the door lock arrangement may be operated manually, i.e. without a
solenoid or the like.
ln most applications, it is expected that the door lock arrangement provides a certain level of security. Generally, depending on value of the articles, such as goods, items or the like, that can be found behind a door, a door lock arrangement with a desired level of security is chosen. The greater effort a manipulation attempt towards the door lock arrangement that is required, the more secure the door lock arrangement is considered to be.
For some known door lock arrangements, it has been found that a certain level of effort in manipulation may sometimes undesirably unlock the door lock arrangement. A disadvantage is that these known door lock arrangements may therefore be considered to belong to a lower level of security than if a greater level of effort, i.e. compared to said certain level of effort, would be
required to cause manipulated unlocking of the door lock arrangement.
SUMMARY ln view ofthe above, an object may be to alleviate or at least reduce one or more of the
abovementioned disadvantages.
This object, and other objects, may be achieved by the independent claim appended
herewith.
According to an aspect, there is thus provided a door lock arrangement for mounting in a door leaf adapted to be hinged in a door frame.
The door lock arrangement comprises a faceplate mountable in the door leaf, and a casing adapted to be received by the door leaf. The casing is formed by at least the faceplate and a mounting plate.
The casing comprises a locking bolt assembly that is displaceable to, and from, a projecting position in which at least a portion of the locking bolt assembly projects through the faceplate. The locking bolt assembly is retractable from the projecting position when the locking bolt assembly is unlocked, whereby closing of the door leaf with respect to the door frame when the door leaf is hinged in the door frame is allowed. The locking bolt assembly is prevented from being retractable, from the projecting position, to allow opening and/or closing of the door leaf with respect to the door frame when the door leaf is hinged in the door frame when the locking bolt assembly is locked.
Furthermore, the casing comprises a locking member that is rotatable about a centre of rotation in a main plane of the mounting plate between an inhibiting position in which the locking member inhibits retraction of the locking bolt assembly, whereby the locking bolt assembly is locked, and an allowing position in which the locking member allows retraction of the locking bolt assembly, whereby the locking bolt assembly is unlocked. The locking member is biased towards the inhibiting position in which a hook portion of the locking member is engageable with the locking bolt assembly upon retraction ofthe locking bolt assembly, whereby the locking bolt assembly is locked. The locking member is configured to be allowed to be forced to the allowing position when the locking bolt assembly is unlocked.
Moreover, the casing comprises a gear arm that is rotatable in the main plane between a first position, in which the inhibiting position is enterable by the locking member, and a second position, in which the locking member is held in the allowing position by that the gear arm abuts the locking member.
The casing has a side that is parallel with the main plane. The side faces an excavation of the locking bolt assembly.
ln particular, the casing comprises a locking piece accommodated within the excavation, i.e. when located in a non-engaging position. The locking piece is displaceable between an engaging position and the non-engaging position. The locking piece comprises a first magnet arranged to hold the locking piece the non-engaging position. The side of the casing is provided with a hole for
engagement with the locking piece. The hole is located for receiving at least a portion of the locking
piece, i.e. said at least a portion ofthe locking piece is received by the hole, when the locking piece is located in the engaging position.
When the locking piece is in the engaging position at least a portion of the locking piece is received by the hole of the side, thereby preventing the locking bolt assembly from being retracted from the projecting position.
When the locking piece is in the non-engaging position the locking piece is attracted, due to the first magnet, towards, and preferably abuts against, an interior of the excavation, whereby no portion ofthe locking piece extends into the hole of the side.
The gear arm comprises a second magnet. When the gear arm is moved, such as rotated, to the second position, the second magnet causes, by magnetic attraction at least partially through an aperture of the locking bolt assembly, the locking piece to enter the non-engaging position. The aperture faces the gear arm.
The engaging position is enterable, or is entered, by the locking piece when a manipulation attempt has caused the locking member to leave the inhibiting position. This means that the locking piece is released from its non-engaging position due to the manipulation attempt. The manipulation attempt thus exposes the locking piece to forces overcoming the magnetic attraction forces of the first magnet towards the interior ofthe excavation. ln this manner, the locking piece may then be
displaced to the engaging position.
During operation of the door lock arrangement, e.g. locking and unlocking and/or closing and opening ofthe door, the locking piece is normally resting within and relatively the locking bolt assembly, i.e. unless the door lock arrangement has been or is exposed to a manipulation attempt. The manipulation attempt will cause the locking piece to leave the non-engaging position and enter the engaging position, provided that the manipulation attempt caused the locking member to lose its engagement with the locking bolt assembly, which then slides slightly, due to the manipulation attempt, into the door lock arrangement until it is stopped by the locking piece, which now is in the engaging position.
ln order to reset the locking piece to the non-engaging position, e.g. a person or a door operator device may open and/or unlock the door, whereby the locking bolt assembly first is slightly extracted, thanks to mechanical bias thereof. This can happen thanks to that as the door shall be opened and/or unlocked any existing side-pressure will be removed. As a result, the locking bolt assembly moved according to its bias, i.e. extracts somewhat. Accordingly, the locking piece is no longer engaged with the hole of the side, however, possibly still protruding into the hole. Thereby, enabling the second magnet of the gear arm to pull, by magnetic attraction at least partly through
the aperture, the locking piece back into the non-engaging position.
Advantageously, the door lock arrangement according to the embodiments herein provides an additional function for securing that the locking bolt assembly remains locked, even if a manipulation attempt causes the locking member to undesirably lose its engagement therewith. The additional function may be embodied by at least one ofthe hole in the side, the locking piece, the
first magnet, the second magnet of the gear arm as described herein.
ln some embodiments, the locking bolt assembly comprises a double action bolt configured to, such as arranged and designed to, retract when exposed to side forces originating from abutment with the door frame when the door leaf is hinged in the door frame and when the locking bolt
assembly is unlocked.
ln some embodiments, the first magnet is arranged to hold the locking piece in the engaging position as well. An advantage is that the first magnet thus ensures that the locking piece abuts the side of the casing. ln this manner, the locking piece will, when possible, more reliably engage with the hole of the side. As a result, the locking piece inhibits further retraction of the locking bolt
assembly more reliably.
ln some embodiments, the locking piece has an elongated shape. A main longitudinal axis of
the elongated shape is parallel with a geometrical axis that is perpendicular to the main plane.
ln some embodiments, the hole is a through-hole or a recess. The hole may be provided in
the mounting plate, a cover plate or the like.
ln some embodiments, the locking piece comprises a protrusion for engagement with the mounting plate by that the protrusion extends into the hole. As an example, the protrusion may be
tapered towards its base, where itjoins a body portion of the locking piece.
ln some embodiments, the door lock arrangement comprises an electrical actuation means
arranged to upon activation displace the gear arm from the first position to the second position.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
ln order to better appreciate the embodiments herein, the following further description is provided.
ln a known door lock arrangement, such as disclosed in WO2020130904, Iocking and unlocking of a bolt, causing a door to be locked or unlocked, is governed by positions of a Iocking member that 1) engages with the bolt for Iocking or that 2) is prevented from engaging with the bolt for unlocking. This kind of Iocking member is used in a plurality of door lock arrangements that comprises one or more of standard bolts, double action bolts, dead bolts or the like.
Certain types of manipulation attempts can occasionally cause the bolt to slide past the
Iocking member even if the door lock arrangement is locked. The certain types of manipulation
attempts include, but are not limited to, severe vibration, hitting, banging, and the like or combinations thereof, at the door leaf in which the door lock arrangement is mounted.
The manipulation attempt thus causes the locking member to leave the position in which it engages with the bolt. As a result, an undesired unlocking ofthe door lock arrangement occurs and opening of a door, in which the door lock arrangement is installed, occurs, or can occur. Rather than e.g. increasing a bias of the locking member, i.e. towards the position in which engagement with the bolt occurs, to make it more difficult to urge the locking member to leave that position by manipulation, the present inventor has chosen a different path as described herein. Further, a risk with increasing the bias of the locking member may be that the door could become more difficult to open and/or close, in particular in cases where a solenoid is used for unlocking.
Furthermore, with the door lock arrangements of the abovementioned kind which uses a so
called double action bolt, the aforementioned problem may be accentuated.
Figure 1 illustrates an exemplifying door lock arrangement 1 according to embodiments herein when installed, or mounted, in a door leaf 2, or door for short.
To the left in Figure 1, illustrating a plan view ofthe door leaf 2, it is shown that the door lock arrangement 1 comprises a first hub 4 for receiving a lock lever (not shown) and a second hub 6 for receiving a lever handle 8. The door leaf 2 is usually mounted in a door frame 3 via hinges
To the right in Figure 1, illustrating a side view of the door leaf 2, it is shown that the door leaf 2 may be provided with one handle at each side of the door leaf 2, i.e. a first handle 8a and a second handle 8b.
Notably, throughout the present disclosure any reference to the door or the door frame shall be understood as applying when the door lock arrangement 1 is mounted in the door and/or when
the door is hinged or mounted in the door frame.
Turning to Figure 2, a more detailed cross-sectional view ofthe door lock arrangement 1 is provided. As illustrated, the first hub 4 may be adapted to receive a lock actuator spindle 202 that may be connected to a knob 204 for manually manoeuvring the door lock arrangement. By use of the knob 204, locking and/or unlocking of the door may be enabled.
Additionally, the second hub 6 is adapted to receive at least one of a first lever handle spindle 206 and a second lever handle spindle 208. ln turn, each ofthe first and second lever handle spindles 206, 208 may be connected to a respective lever handle, such as the first and second
handles 8a, 8b. By use of the handles 8a, 8b, opening and/or closing of the door may be enabled.
Figure 3a shows, in a cross-sectional view, the exemplifying door lock arrangementaccording to some embodiments herein. The exemplifying door lock arrangement 1 may include
optional features that are merely included for reasons of completeness.
Generally, with reference to Figure 3a, the door lock arrangement 1 for mounting in the door leaf 2 comprises a faceplate 10 mountable in the door leaf 2, and a casing 14 adapted to be received by the door leaf 2, which typically is adapted to be hinged in the door frame 3. As shown in Figure 3c, the faceplate 10 may comprise a first opening 52, see Figure 3c, adapted to receive an auxiliary latch bolt 800 and a second opening 54, see Figure 3c, adapted to receive a Iocking bolt assembly 18, such as a bolt, a dead bolt, a double action bolt orthe like. The casing 14 is formed by at least the faceplate 10 and a mounting plate 12, which also are adapted to be received by the door leaf
Typically, the door frame 3 is provided with a strike plate (not shown), which faces the face plate 10. As mentioned in the background section ofthe present disclosure, a so-called electric strike plate may be required in order to achieved desired functionality in certain scenarios, such as
providing a lockable double action door with a door operator.
The casing 14 comprises a Iocking bolt assembly 18 that is displaceable to, and from, a projecting position 1801 in which at least a portion of the Iocking bolt assembly 18 projects through the faceplate 10. The Iocking bolt assembly 18 is typically biased towards the projecting position. The Iocking bolt assembly 18 is retractable from the projecting position 1801, e.g. by translation thereof in parallel with a geometrical axis 63 that is perpendicular to a main plane 60 of the faceplate 10, when the Iocking bolt assembly 18 is unlocked, whereby closing ofthe door leaf 2 with respect to the door frame 3 when the door leaf 2 is hinged in the door frame 3 is allowed.
The Iocking bolt assembly 18 is prevented from being retractable, from the projecting position 1801, to allow opening and/or closing of the door leaf 2 with respect to the door framewhen the door leaf 2 is hinged in the door frame 3 when the Iocking bolt assembly 18 is locked.
Additionally, the casing 14 comprises a Iocking member 13 that is rotatable about a centre of rotation and in a main plane 61 of the mounting plate 12 between an inhibiting position 1310 in which the Iocking member 13 inhibits retraction of the Iocking bolt assembly 18, whereby the Iocking bolt assembly 18 is locked, and an allowing position 1320 in which the Iocking member 13 allows retraction of the Iocking bolt assembly 18, whereby the Iocking bolt assembly 18 is unlocked. The Iocking member 13 is biased towards the inhibiting position 1310 in which a hook portion 1303 of the Iocking member 13 is engageable with the Iocking bolt assembly 18 upon retraction of the Iocking bolt assembly 18, whereby the Iocking bolt assembly 18 is locked. The Iocking member 13 is
configured to be allowed to be forced to the allowing position 1320 when the Iocking bolt assembly
18 is unlocked.
The casing 14 further comprises a gear arm 16 that is rotatable in the main plane 61 between a first position 1610, in which the inhibiting position 1310 is enterable by the locking member 13, and a second position 1620, in which the locking member 13 is held in the allowing position 1320 by that the gear arm 16 abuts the locking member 13. Thanks to the shape and form the locking member it can thus interact with the gear arm 14, whereby it thus may be said to be configured to be allowed to be forced to the allowing position 1320 when the locking bolt assembly 18 is unlocked, i.e. by that
the gear arm 16 enters the second position
The casing 14 has a side 1401, see e.g. Figure 10, that is parallel with the main plane 61. The side 1401 faces an excavation 1810 of the locking bolt assembly 18, as shown in Figure 9. ln more detail, the mounting plate 12 comprises the side 1401. Alternatively, the casing 14 further comprises a cover plate, not illustrated, that comprises the side 1401. ln this alternative, the design of the door lock arrangement 1 may be said to be mirrored, expect for the mounting plate and the cover plate, in a central main plane that is parallel with the main plan 61. The side 1401 may thus be an inner side of a plate, such as the mounting plate 12, the cover plate or the like, forming the casing 14, or at least
parts of the casing
The casing 14 comprises a locking piece 400, shown in Figure 4 below, accommodated within the excavation 1810, as seen in Figure 10. The locking piece 400 is displaceable between an engaging position El and a non-engaging position E2, illustrated in Figure 10 and Figure 11. The locking piece 400 comprises a first magnet 410, also shown in Figure 4, arranged to hold the locking piece 400 in the non-engaging position E
The side 1401 is provided with a hole 1403 for engagement with the locking piece 400. ln some examples, the hole 1403 is a through-hole, a recess, or the like.
The hole 1403 is located for receiving at least a portion of the locking piece 400. That is to say, e.g. a position of the hole 1403 on the side 1401 is chosen such that the hole 1403 is capable of receiving said at least a portion ofthe locking piece 400 as explained further herein. When the locking piece 400 is in the engaging position El at least a portion of the locking piece 400 is received by the hole 1403 of the side 1401, thereby preventing the locking bolt assembly 18 from being retracted from the projecting position 1801. When the locking piece 400 is in the non-engaging position E2 the locking piece 400 is attracted, due to the first magnet 410, towards, and preferably abuts against, an interior ofthe excavation 1810, whereby no portion of the locking pieceextends into the hole 1403 ofthe side 1401. When the locking piece 400 is in the non-engaging
position E2, the door lock arrangement 1 operates, such as opens/closes the door, locks/unlocks the locking bolt assembly etc, without activating or engaging the locking piece
With reference to the lower left side view in Figure 4, it may be contemplated that a lower surface 411 (illustrated with a dotted line) may be tilted or bevelled. The excavation 1810 may have a similar or corresponding tilted surface (not shown). ln this manner, the locking piece 400 will by gravity slide towards the engaging position El when a manipulation attempt causes forces that are
greater than the magnet's 410 forces that keeps the locking piece 400 in the non-engaging position.
Furthermore, the gear arm 16 comprises a second magnet 1604. When the gear arm 16 is moved, such as rotated, to the second position 1620, the second magnet 1604 causes, by magnetic attraction at least partially through an aperture 1820 ofthe locking bolt assembly 18, the locking piece 400 to enter the non-engaging position E2. The aperture 1820 faces the gear arm
The engaging position Elis enterable, or is entered, by the locking piece 400 when a manipulation attempt has caused the locking member 13 to leave the inhibiting position 1310. As a result, an in contrast to when the locking piece is in the non-engaging position, the manipulation attempt has activated or engaged the locking piece, which thus constitutes a secondary locking
mechanism. An advantage is hence the security ofthe door lock arrangement 1 is improved.
ln some examples, the locking bolt assembly 18 comprises a double action bolt 18, such as a dual action bolt, a roller bolt or the like, configured to, such as arranged and designed to, retract when exposed to side forces originating from abutment with the door frame 3 when the door leaf 2 is hinged in the door frame 3 and when the locking bolt assembly 18 is unlocked.
Since it has been found that door lock arrangements, such as the door lock arrangement 1 described herein, with a double action bolt are more sensitive to manipulation attempts, it is particularly advantageous to apply the solution herein to the door lock arrangements with double
action bolt(s).
Figure 4 illustrates a set of side and perspective views of the exemplifying locking piece 400. ln this example, the locking piece 400 has an elongated shape. A longitudinal main extension direction 414 of the elongated shape is parallel to the geometrical axis 63 when put in the excavation 1810 ofthe locking bolt assembly 18 and installed in the door lock arrangement
ln some examples, the locking piece 400 comprises a protrusion 415 for engagement with the mounting plate 12 by that the protrusion 415 extends into the hole 1403, i.e. when the locking piece 400 is in the engaging position El as illustrated in Figure 10. ln this manner, the locking piece
400 presents a protruding edge 416 that can engage with the hole 1403 such as to
prevent the locking bolt assembly 18 from being retracted due to the manipulation attempt.
As shown in Figure 4, a cross-section of the protrusion 415 may be circular, rectangular, square, oval, elliptic, an irregular shape or the like. This cross-section is parallel with the main plane 61 when the locking piece 400 is mounted in the door lock arrangement
ln some further examples, the locking piece 400 may further comprise a projecting part 417. The projecting part 417 may be, e.g. adapted to be, received by the aperture 1820 of the locking bolt assembly 18. ln more detail, the projecting part 417 may thus sometimes be form-fitted to match the aperture 1820, e.g. the cross-section of the projecting part 417 may be enclosed by, and preferably be similar to, the cross-section of the aperture 1820, said cross-sections being parallel to the main plane 61 when mounted in the door lock arrangement 1. Each of said cross-sections may have a rectangular shape, an oval shape, a circular shape, a square shape or the like independently of each
other as long as the projecting part 417 may be received by the aperture
ln Figure 4, the first magnet 410 has a cylindrical shape. Further, as seen in Figure 4, the body 418 is provided with a cylindrical through-hole in which the first magnet 410 is mountable, whereby the first magnet 410 when attracted to another part pulls the entire locking piece 400 towards said other part. The shape of the first magnet 410 may take many forms as appropriate per a particular construction.
A magnetic strength of the first magnet 410 may preferably be able to hold the locking piece 400 to the non-engaging position, but still allow the manipulation attempt to cause the locking piece 400 to leave the non-engaging position.
One part of the first magnet 410, such as one end thereof, is typically located in, at, or very close to a surface of the body 418. The surface surrounds the projecting part 417 facing the interior of the locking bolt assembly 18 when the locking piece 400 is located therein.
lt may be preferred that another part of the first magnet 410, such as the other end thereof, is located in, at, or very close to a further surface of the body 418. Said further surface is facing the side 1401 ofthe casing 14 when the locking piece 400 is installed in the door lock arrangement 1. An advantage may be that the first magnet 410 then is able to more reliably maintain the locking piece
400 in the engaging position El as explained further in the following.
ln some embodiments, the first magnet 410 is arranged to hold the locking piece 400 in the engaging position El, e.g. by that the first magnet 410 reaches towards the side 1401 of the casing 14 when the locking piece 400 is installed, such as accommodated in the excavation 1810, in the door lock arrangement 1. ln more detail, it may be that the first magnet 410 abuts against the side
1401 when the locking piece 400 is in the engaging position El. An advantage is that the first magnet410 thus ensures that the locking piece 400 abuts the side 1401 of the casing 14, whereby at least a portion ofthe locking piece 400, such as the protrusion 415, projects into the hole 1403 as a consequence of the shape of the locking piece 400. ln this manner, the locking piece 400 will, when possible, more reliably engage with the hole 1403 of the side 1401. As a result, the locking piece 400 inhibits further retraction of the locking bolt assembly more reliably. Notably, a magnetic strength of the first magnet 410 may preferably be able to hold the
locking piece 400 to the engaging position, but still allow the second magnet in the gear arm to cause the locking piece 400 to leave the engaging position when desired, e.g. when the second magnet is
sufficiently aligned with the aperture.
ln some embodiments, the door lock arrangement 1 comprises an electrical actuation means 50 arranged to upon activation displace the gear arm 16 from the first position 1610 to the second position 1620. The electrical actuation means may be a solenoid, a linear actuator, an electric motor,
a linear solenoid or the like.
lt may generally be noted that the rotatable gear arm 16 may be adapted to translationally displace the locking bolt assembly 18 by rotation about a rotational axis 20 perpendicular to the mounting plate 12. The locking bolt assembly 18 may comprise a latch bolt, a dead bolt, a double action bolt or the like depending on realization of the door lock arrangement 1. lt is well known that some door lock arrangements include one or more bolts selected from a group comprising at least a latch bolt, a dead bolt and the like. Accordingly, in a further aspect of the embodiments herein, the door lock arrangement 1 comprises a bolt that may be of any kind. Therefore, not limiting the applicability ofthe gear arm 16 and the locking member 13 to only the locking bolt assembly 18 that is arranged to and designed to retract when exposed to side forces originating from abutment with the door frame 3 when the door leaf 2 is hinged in the door frame 3 and when the locking bolt assembly 18 is unlocked. According to this further aspect, the aforementioned features of the locking
bolt assembly 18 are optional.
ln some embodiments, at least one of a first and a second pushing portion 1601, 1602 is provided with a respective ball bearing. ln Figure 5a through Figure 5d, as an example, both the first and second pushing portions 1601, 1602 are provided with a respective ball bearing.
The gear arm 16 comprises the second pushing portion 1602 which is adapted to force the locking member 13 from the inhibiting position 1310 during initial rotation ofthe gear arm 16 from the first position 1610 towards the second position 1620 by that the second pushing portionpushes at a distal portion 1301 of the locking member 13. The distal portion 1301 is located distallywith respect to the centre of rotation of the locking member
Figure Sa through Figure 5d illustrate the gear arm 16 according to an exemplifying realization, in which the first and second pushing portions 1601, 1602 are provided with a respective ball bearing. The first and second pushing portions 1601, 1602 may be located at a distal portion of the gear arm 16, e.g. with respect to the rotational axis
Furthermore, the gear arm 16 comprises an orifice 1603 or the like. The orifice 1603 is adapted to accommodate a protrusion 1805 of the locking bolt assembly 18. A purpose of the orifice 1603 and the protrusion 1805 is to assist, and/or support, the gear arm 16 during at least some portion of displacement between the first and second positions 1610,
On the one hand, thanks to a clearance between the protrusion 1805 and the orifice 1603, the gear arm 16 may, during the initial rotation from the first position 1610, rotate without being impeded by the locking bolt assembly 16, i.e. the biasing of the locking bolt assembly
On the other hand, the protrusion 1805 and the orifice 1603 may ensure that the gear arm 16 is located in the first position 1610 when the locking bolt assembly 18 is located in the projecting position. The locking member 13 may also assist, and/or support, displacement of the gear arm 16 from the second position 1620 to the first position
Figure 5d illustrates the second magnet 1604. The second magnet 1604 may be mounted in a cylindrical hole of the gear arm 16. However, the shape ofthe second magnet 1604 may assume any suitable shape. A magnetic strength of the second magnet 1604 may preferably be able to pull the locking piece 400 to the non-engaging position when being positioned to face into the apertureof the locking bolt assembly
Moreover, as shown in Figure 6, the casing 14 may comprises the auxiliary latch bolt assembly 800 displaceable between a locking position 704, 706, in which the locking bolt assembly 18 is lockable, and an unlocking position 702, in which the locking bolt assembly 18 is unlocked, e.g. by translation thereof in parallel with the geometrical axis 63. The auxiliary latch bolt assembly 800 projects less, or not at all, through the faceplate 10 in the locking position 704, 706 than in the unlocking position 702 due to abutment with the door frame 3 when the door leaf 2 is hinged in the door frame 3. The locking position and the unlocking position are further described with reference to Figure
The auxiliary latch bolt assembly 800 is biased, such as mechanically biased, e.g. by means of an elastic material, spring biased, biased by means of a rubber band, an elastic band or the like, towards the unlocking position 702. The auxiliary latch bolt assembly 800 may be spring biased, e.g.
using a compression spring, a helical compression spring, a conical spring, an extension spring, atorsion spring, a constant force spring, a belleville spring, a drawbar spring, a volute spring, a garter
spring or the like. ln this example, a conical spring is shown by way of example.
Figure 7a through Figure 7c shows an exemplifying locking member 13 that is adapted to cooperate with the auxiliary Iatch bolt 800 to achieve locking and unlocking of an exemplifying bolt, such as the locking bolt assembly
The locking member 13 comprises a distal portion 1301. As shown, in Figure 7b, the distal portion 1301 is located distally with respect to the centre of rotation of the locking member 13. The centre of rotation is indicated by an axis 1305. A surface 1306 of the distal portion 1301 may be arranged to, such as shaped, formed or otherwise adapted to, such that a surface 1306 thereof may abut, or at least be located in close vicinity of, the second pushing portion 1602 of the gear arm 16, when the gear arm 16 is located in its first position 1610 and the locking member 13 is located in its inhibiting position
The locking member 13 may further comprise a proximal portion 1304, which may be located in the vicinity ofthe hook portion 1303. The proximal portion 1304 is proximal with respect to the distal portion 1301 and relatively the axis 1305. The proximal portion 1304 may have a surface 1306 at which the first pushing portion 1601 of the gear arm 16 may be arranged to act after the initial rotation ofthe gear arm 16. Notably, it may be that during some part of the rotation ofthe gear arm 16 from the first position 1610 to the second position 1620 both the first and second pushing portions 1601, 1602 acts on the locking member
The aforementioned hook portion 1303 ofthe locking member 13 may be adapted to engage with the locking bolt assembly 18, whereby the bolt is prevented from being further retracted into the casing 14, when the locking member 13 is located in the inhibition position
Moreover, the locking member 13 has a protruding locking support 1302 adapted to engage with the auxiliary Iatch bolt assembly 800 when the auxiliary Iatch bolt assembly 800 is in the unlocking position 702. Furthermore, the locking member 13 is biased to rotate such that the hook portion 1303 engages with the locking bolt assembly 18 unless the locking member 13 is inhibited by e.g. the gear arm
Therefore, in some examples, the locking member 13 may be said to be configured to be allowed to be forced, by the auxiliary Iatch bolt assembly 800, to the allowing position 1320 when the auxiliary Iatch bolt assembly 800 biasedly enters the unlocking position 702. As reason for this may be that the locking member 13 comprises the protruding locking support 1302 that can cause the locking member 13 to rotate when the auxiliary Iatch bolt assembly 800 pushes thereon as the
auxiliary Iatch bolt assembly 800 is displaced towards and/or to its unlocking positionln the foregoing, specific examples of the gear arm 16 and the locking member 13 have been provided. lt is apprecíated that, generally, at least one ofthe first and second pushing portions 1601, 1602 ofthe gear arm 16 and the distal portion 1301 of the locking member 13 is provided with a means for reducing friction. The means for reducing friction between at least some portion of the gear arm 16 and at least some portion of the locking member 13 may include a bearing, a coating of a slippery material, a roll bearing, a needle bearing, a ball bearing. Other bearing types include deep- groove ball bearings, angular contact ball bearings, self-aligning ball bearings, thrust ball bearings, spherical roller bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, tapered roller bearings, needle roller bearings and more.
ln one example, the second portion 1602 of the gear arm 16 is provided with the means for reducing friction. ln this example, the first portion 1601 and the distal portion 1301 of the locking member 13 may thus not be provided with the means for reducing friction. That is only the second portion 1602 is provided with the means for reducing friction. ln another example, it may be that (only) the distal portion 1301 of the locking member 13 is provided with the means for reducing
friction.
Figure 8a through Figure 8f show operation of the door lock arrangement 1, i.e. in a sequence of Figures, exemplifying positions and locations of e.g. the gear arm 16, the auxiliary latch bolt assembly 800, the locking member 13 and the locking bolt assembly 18 are illustrated. The description below further illustrates how the manipulation attempt is torpedoed thanks to at least some of the first magnet, the second magnet, the locking piece and the aperture.
Figure 8a shows the door lock arrangement 1 in a resting state, e.g. when the door is open. The auxiliary latch bolt assembly 800 is in the unlocking position 792 towards which it is biased. The locking member 13 is in the allowing position 1320 against its biasing toward the inhibiting position 1320. Since the door is open, an attempt to manipulate the door lock arrangement Qígdoes not make sense. Herein, such attempt is referred to as ”manipulation attempt”.
Figure 8b shows the door lock arrangement 1 in a locked state, e.g. when the door is closed and the locking bolt assembly 18 is inhibited from retraction by the locking member 13. ln this state, the door lock arrangement 1 may be exposed to a manipulation attempt, e.g. by pounding, beating with or without a tool, such as a hammer, sledgehammer or the like.
Figure 8c shows the door lock arrangement 1 when the solenoid activated to unlock the locking bolt assembly 18. Figure 8c may show a state just after the initial rotation, during which it is preferred that the second pushing portion gššwíšmíjgalone urges the locking member 13 towards its allowing position. Here, the locking piece 400 rests in the non-engaging position E
Figure 8d shows that the locking bolt assembly 18 is unlocked, i.e. the hook portion of the
locking member has been released from the locking bolt assembly 18 and the locking member has been displaced by initially the second pushing portion gšgfšgåyand then also the first pushing portion jigåišlgout of the inhibiting position and into the allowing position. As a result, any side forces, e.g. due to pulling by a person, frame pressure or a door operator, will cause the door to open.
Figure 8e shows a state in which opening of the door has begun. Thanks to the protrusion ššglšgrof the locking bolt assembly 18 and the orifice šjíßišyrof the gear arm 16, movement of the locking bolt assembly 18 pushes the gear arm 16 further in the second position as the locking bolt assembly 18 is retracted in a direction into the door lock arrangement 1 along the geometrical axis
Figure 8f shows when the door is located such that the locking bolt assembly 18 is pushed into the door lock arrangement by the strike plate, i.e. by flat surfaces surrounding edges of an opening ofthe strike plate. The opening of the strike plate is able to receive the locking bolt assembly 18 in order to secure the door when locked.
Figure 8g shows the situation after a manipulation attempt, which has caused the locking member 13 to lose its engagement with the locking bolt assembly 18. However, the locking bolt assembly 18 is nevertheless prevented from sliding further into the door lock arrangement 1, i.e. further along the geometrical axis 63, e.g. away from the faceplate 10 and into the casing. Such sliding of the locking bolt assembly 18 may be caused by biasing, e.g. in case the locking bolt assembly 18 is a double action bolt or by further intrusive manual manipulation. As seen in Figure 8g, the second magnet 1604 cannot in this situation cause the locking piece 400 to be displaced, since the aperture 1820 is not sufficiently allgned with the second magnet 1604. Also, the fact that the locking piece 400 is in this situation typically engaged with the hole 1403 prevents displacement of
the locking piece
Figure 9 shows a set of views of the locking bolt assembly 18, sometimes with the locking piece 400 resting in the excavation
The aperture 1820 is provided in a wall1812 ofthe locking bolt assembly 18. One of the wa|l's 1812 sldes faces the gear arm 16 as seen in e.g. Figure 8a. The aperture 1820 may have a cross- section that is circular, oval, rectangular, square or the like or a combination thereof. The aperture 1820 may be appropriately located in the wall1812 such that the second magnet ofthe gear arm may attract the locking piece 400, which could cause the locking piece 400 to enter the non-engaglng position E2 without being obstructed by the hole, or other part(s), unless the locking piecealready is in the non-engaglng position E
Figure 10 illustrates, at the bottom, a side view in which a section is marked A-A. Above theside view, there is illustrated a cross-section taken in the section A-A and a magnification of a portion of the cross-section.
ln Figure 10, it is seen that the locking piece 400 is located in the engaging position E1. The engaging position E1 may be defined by that the protruding edge 416 is capable of engaging with the hole 1403, such as an edge 1001 of the hole 1403. With reference to the door lock arrangement 1, the edge 1001 protrudes from a portion of the hole 1403, wherein the portion of the hole 1403 is located distally with respect to the faceplate 10. The edge 1001 protrudes towards the faceplate
The side 1401 of the casing 14 may be an interior side. An exterior side 1402 of the casing 14 may face the interior of a door leaf in which the door lock arrangement 1 may be installed. The engaging position El may be defined as the maximum distance from the exterior side 1402 at which the protrusion 415 and/or the protruding edge 416 still is/are capable of engaging with the holesuch as to prevent that the locking bolt assembly 18 slides further away from the faceplate
Figure 11 illustrates, at the bottom, a side view in which a section is marked A-A. Above the side view, there is illustrated a cross-section taken in the section A-A and a magnification of a portion of the cross-section.
ln Figure 11, it is seen that the locking piece 400 is located in the non-engaging position E2. The non-engaging position E2 may be defined by that the protruding edge 416 is uncapable of engaging with the hole 1403, such as an edge 1001 of the hole
With reference to the door lock arrangement 1, as also mentioned in relation to Figure 10, the edge 1001 protrudes from a portion of the hole 1403, wherein the portion of the hole 1403 is located distally with respect to the faceplate 10. The edge 1001 protrudes towards the faceplate 10. The side 1401 of the casing 14 may be an interior side. An exterior side 1402 of the casing 14 may face the interior of a door leaf in which the door lock arrangement 1 may be installed. The non- engaging position E2 may be defined as the minimum distance from the exterior side 1402 at which the protrusion 415 and/or the protruding edge 416 is located and uncapable of engaging with the hole 1403 whereby unlocking and locking and/or opening and closing can be performed without
interference by the locking piece
ln view ofthe foregoing examples and description, the following exemplifying sequence of events may be presented. 0 The door lock arrangement 1 is locked, and side pressure is applied due to debris or intentional pull/push by a person. 0 A manipulation attempt causes unlocking, which means that the locking piece is release
from its resting position, also referred to as non-engaging position. Further, the lockingmember no longer prevents the locking bolt assembly from being retracted. The locking bolt assembly could then be retracted by further manipulation, such as pushing, using some kind of burglary tool, at the locking bolt assembly. lf the locking bolt assembly is a double action bolt and side pressure is applied, further retraction will appear by design. Due to unlocking and the side pressure, the double action bolt begins to slide into the door lock arrangement, the locking piece will then enter the hole 1403 in the casing
0 The locking piece will hook into the hole 1403 of the casing 14 and thus prevent the locking bolt assembly 18 from sliding further into the door lock arrangement 1. The side pressure may still be applied.
0 ln order to restore the locking piece 400 to the non-engaging position E2, the side pressure may be manually released, at least temporaríly. This will cause the locking bolt assembly 18 to be hooked by the locking member, i.e. in the same way as before the manipulation attempt. This happens thanks to biasing springs on the locking bolt assembly and the locking member.
0 Upon activation of the gear arm (due to electric solenoid or manual operation of the handle) the second magnet of the gear arm will attract the locking piece, which then is displaced such that it no longer projects into (or through) the hole in the casing. Thanks to the first magnet ofthe locking piece, the locking piece is held in place in the non-
engaging position E2 as long as it is not displaced therefrom by a manipulation attempt.
As a further example, there is disclosed a door lock arrangement 1 comprising a casing 14 that comprises a locking bolt assembly 18 capable of being locked or unlocked, and a locking member 13 capable of inhibiting retraction of the locking bolt assembly 18, whereby the locking bolt assembly 18 is locked, and capable of allowing retraction of the locking bolt assembly 18, whereby the locking bolt assembly 18 is unlocked. The casing 14 comprises a gear arm 16 that is rotatable in the main plane 61 between a first position 1610, in which the locking bolt assembly 18 is locked, and a second position 1620, in which the locking bolt assembly 18 is unlocked. The casing 14 has a side 1401 that faces an excavation 1810 of the locking bolt assembly 18. The casing 14 comprises a locking piece 400 accommodated within the excavation 1810. The locking piece 400 is displaceable between an engaging position El and a non-engaging position E2. The locking piece 400 comprises a first magnet 410. The side 1401 is provided with a hole 1403 for engagement with the locking piece 400. When the locking piece 400 is in the engaging position E1 at least a portion of the locking piece 400 is received by the hole 1403 ofthe side 1401, thereby preventing the locking bolt assembly 18 from being retracted from the projecting position 1801. When the locking piece 400 is in the non-engaging
position E2 the locking piece 400 is attracted, due to the first magnet 410, towards an interior of theexcavation 1810, whereby no portion ofthe locking piece 400 extends into the hole 1403 ofthe side
The gear arm 16 comprises a second magnet 1604 that is arranged to cause, by magnetic attraction at least partially through an aperture 1820 of the locking bolt assembly 18, the locking piece 400 to enter the non-engagíng position E2. The engaging position Elis enterable by the locking piece 400 when a manipulation attempt has caused the locking member 13 to leave the inhibiting
position
