Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an outdoor media transporting cable fastener (11, 111, 11’1, 112, 113, 114) adapted for fastening an outdoor media transporting cable (5) onto a ground surface (13). Each outdoor media transporting cable fastener (11, 111. 11’1, 112, 113, 114) comprises at least one end (26a, 26b) that is adapted to be inserted into the ground through the ground surface (13). Each boundary wire fastener (11, 111, 11’1, 112, 113, 114) is made of a biodegradable material that is constituted by flexible fibers.

Description

TITLE An outdoor media transporting cable fastener TECHNICAL FIELDThe present disclosure relates to an outdoor media transporting cable fastener adapted for fastening an outdoor media transporting cable onto a ground surface, BACKGROUND Robotic work tool systems of different configurations which use a boundary wire areavailable on the market today. A common example is a robotic lawn mower. Aboundary wire is a wire comprising an electrical conductor usually protected by a cover.ln most systems, a signal emitting unit is connected to the boundary wire and outputsa signal through the boundary wire such that one or more sensors of the robotic worktool of the robotic work tool system can sense the location of the boundary wire and inresponse thereto navigate the robotic work tool.
By fastening the boundary wire around edges of an area, a user can define and controlwhich area that is going to be operated by the robotic work tool. The boundary wirecan be fastened onto the ground using boundary wire fasteners, such as staples.
One of the reasons why robotic work tool systems have become increasingly popularand common is that they are able to autonomously perform a burdensome task, such as cutting a lawn, without the intervention of a user.
Most robotic work tools comprise one or more batteries and one or more driving unitsbeing powered by the one or more batteries. Thus, such a robotic work tool can performa task in an environmentally friendly manner, using electric power. ln some cases, therobotic work tool uses the boundary wire to locate a charging station used to rechargethe one or more batteries.
Even though robotic work tool systems usually can operate and perform a task in anenvironmentally friendly manner, there is room for improvement. Further, in mostcases, the staples are difficult to remove from the ground surface when the boundary wire is to be removed or moved. ln the same way, for example water hoses for garden watering systems and otheroutdoor media transporting cables also need to be fastened to the ground in a similar manner, imposing similar problems.
SUMMARYThe object of the present disclosure is to provide an improved outdoor mediatransporting cable fastener.
This object is achieved by means ofoutdoor media transporting cable fastener adaptedfor fastening an outdoor media transporting cable onto a ground surface. Each outdoormedia transporting cable fastener comprises at least one end that is adapted to beinserted into the ground through the ground surface, and is made of a biodegradable material that is constituted by flexible fibers. ln this way, an environment-friendly, inexpensive and easily handled outdoor mediatransporting cable fastener that need not be removed is provided.
According to some aspects, the outdoor media transporting cable fastener is a waterhose fastener that is adapted for fastening a water hose onto the ground surface.
According to some aspects, the outdoor media transporting cable fastener is aboundary wire fastener adapted for fastening a boundary wire, configured to provide aboundary of a working area of an outdoor robotic work tool, onto the ground surface.
This means that the outdoor media transporting cable fastener can be used for fastening different kinds of outdoor media transporting cables.
According to some aspects, the biodegradable material is made by fibers forming a woven or non-woven fabric.
According to some aspects, the biodegradable material is made by a cellulose fibersheet material.
According to some aspects, the biodegradable material is made by fibers forming a twine.
This means that the biodegradable material can be made in many different waysaccording to needs and requirements.
According to some aspects, at least one end that is adapted to be inserted through theground surface has an arrow-shape or a T-shape. ln this way, each outdoor media transporting cable fastener can be securely fixed inthe ground.
According to some aspects, the outdoor media transporting cable fastener iscomprised in a plurality of outdoor media transporting cable fasteners that are attachedto a holding sheet that is arranged in a roll from which an end of the holding sheet canbe unrolled. ln this way, an automated mounting of the outdoor media transporting cable fastenersis enabled.
According to some aspects, each outdoor media transporting cable fastener comprisesan aperture enabling a loop to be formed, the loop being adapted to circumvent theoutdoor media transporting cable.
According to some aspects, the media transporting cable fastener comprises a loop,the loop being adapted to circumvent the outdoor media transporting cable.
This means that the media transporting cable fastener can be attached to the outdoormedia transporting cable in many different ways according to needs and requirements.
According to some aspects, the biodegradable material is arranged to decompose afterone to five years when the outdoor media transporting cable fastener has been insertedinto the ground through the ground surface. ln this manner, it is ensured that the media transporting cable fasteners do not need to be removed and do not affect the environment in any negative manner.
The present disclosure also relates to boundary wire arrangements, fastening toolsand methods that are associated with above advantages.

The different devices, systems, computerprograms and methods disclosed herein can, however, be rea|ized in many differentforms and should not be construed as being limited to the aspects set forth herein. Likenumbers in the drawings refer to like elements throughout.
The terminology used herein is for describing aspects of the disclosure only and is notintended to limit the invention. As used herein, the singular forms "a", "an" and "the"are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. lt should be noted that even though the description given herein will be focused onrobotic lawn mowers, the teachings herein may also be applied to any type of outdoorrobotic work tool, such as for example robotic ball collectors, robotic mine sweepers and robotic farming equipment.
Figure 1 shows a top view of an outdoor robotic working tool 1, Figure 2 shows a frontview of the outdoor robotic working tool 1 and Figure 3 shows a bottom view of theoutdoor robotic working tool 1, here exemplified by a robotic lawn mower 9. The roboticlawn mower 9 comprises a body 20a, 20b, a propulsion motor arrangement 15, a powersource 16 such as a rechargeable battery adapted to provide power to the propulsionmotor arrangement 15, and a plurality of wheels 10a, 10b; 21a, 21b. Two or more ofthe wheels, according to some aspects two rear wheels 21a, 21b, are adapted to bepropelled by the propulsion motor arrangement 15, enabling the robotic working tool 1to move with respect to a forward travelling direction D. lt is of course possible that allfour wheels 10a, 10b; 21a, 21b are adapted to be propelled by the propulsion motor arrangementThe robotic lawn mower 9 also comprises a grass cutting device 23, in this example aplurality of cutting blade arrangements driven by a cutter motor arrangement 22 that also is powered by the power source 16 or, alternatively, by a separate power source.
The grass cutting device is an example of a general work tool for an outdoor robotic work tool.
According to some aspects, the propulsion motor arrangement 15 comprises oneseparate propulsion motor for each wheel 10a, 10b; 21a, 21b to be driven, andaccording to some further aspects, the cutter motor arrangement 22 comprises oneseparate cutter motor for each cutting blade arrangement. lt should be noted that even if the description herein is focused on electric motors,combustion engines may alternatively be used, possibly in combination with an electric motor.
The robotic lawn mower 9 further comprises a control unit 19. The robotic lawn mower9 may be a multi-chassis type or a mono-chassis type. A multi-chassis type comprisesmore than one body parts that are movable with respect to one another. A mono-chassis type comprises only one main body part. ln this example there is a front bodypart 20a and a rear body part 20b.
The robotic lawn mower 9 typically comprises charging skids 28 for contacting contactplates in a charging station when docking into the charging station for receiving acharging current through, and possibly also for transferring information by means ofelectrical communication between the charging station and the robotic lawn mower 9.Other means of establishing a charging contact are possible and are incorporated herein. ln a previously well-known manner, the robotic lawn mower 9 is adapted to navigatewith reference to a boundary wire emitting a magnetic field caused by a control signaltransmitted through the boundary wire. The robotic lawn mower is further configuredto detect the magnetic field and for detecting the boundary wire, for example by means of one or more magnetic field sensors.
Figure 4 illustrates a boundary wire arrangement 1 for an outdoor robotic work toolsystem 3. According to the illustrated embodiments, the outdoor robotic work toolsystem 3 comprises the robotic lawn mower 9 configured to autonomously cut grass of a lawn 15. The boundary wire arrangement 1 comprises a boundary wire 5configured to provide a boundary of a working area 7 of the robotic lawn mower 9.According to the illustrated embodiments, the working area 7 is a portion of the lawnFurther, according to the illustrated embodiments, the boundary wire 5 is connected toa signal emitting unit 16. The signal emitting unit 16 is configured to emit a signalthrough the boundary wire 5. The robotic lawn mower 9 comprises a sensor 17configured to sense the location of the boundary wire 5, and the control unit 19 isconfigured to navigate the robotic lawn mower 9 on the basis of the location of theboundary wire 5. The robotic lawn mower 9 thus uses the sensor 17 to locate the boundary wire 5 and thereby the boundary of the working areaAccording to the illustrated embodiments, the sensor 17 senses the location of theboundary wire 5 by sensing the magnetic field of the boundary wire 5. Further, therobotic lawn mower 9 may also comprise other types of positioning units and sensors,for example sensors for detecting an event, such as a collision with an object within the working areaFurther, the robotic lawn mower 9 may comprise a photovoltaic module arranged togenerate electricity from the sun's rays which may fully or partially provide an energysource for charging the one or more batteries. The robotic lawn mower 9 may move ina systematic and/or random pattern to ensure that the working area 7 is completelyoperated. ln addition, the robotic lawn mower 9 may use the boundary wire 5 to locatea charging station used to recharge the one or more batteries. The charging station may be located at, form part of, or comprise, the signal emitting unitThe boundary wire arrangement 1 comprises a plurality of boundary wire fasteners 11for fastening the boundary wire 5 onto a ground surface 13. As mentioned above,according to the illustrated embodiments, the ground surface 13 is a lawn 15. ln Fig.1, only some of the boundary wire fasteners 11 are indicated with the reference sign“1 1” for the reason of brevity and/or clarity. As shown in Figure 5A and Figure 5B, eachfastener 11 comprises a first end 26a that is adapted to be inserted into the ground through the ground surfaceAccording to the present disclosure, each of the boundary wire fasteners 11 is madeof a biodegradable material that is constituted by flexible fibers. Examples of suchmaterials are woven and non-woven fabric, twine, cellulose fiber material such as different types of paper.
As shown in Figure 5A and Figure 5B, a first example of a fastener 111 is made of astrip of sheet material where an aperture 27 is arranged and enables a loop 28 to beformed, according to some aspects in the proximity of a second end 39. The loop isadapted to circumvent the boundary wire 5. The strip of sheet material is according tosome aspects formed by woven or non-woven fabric 25, or, alternatively, by a cellulosefiber sheet material .As shown in Figure 6A and Figure 6B, a tool 33 is used to press the first end 26a intothe ground through the ground surface 13 such that the loop 28 with the encircledboundary wire 5 remains above the ground surface 13. As shown in Figure 6C, in orderto provide a more secure attachment of the fastener 11'1 in the ground, the first end 26a is provided an arrow-shape or a T-shape.
As shown in Figure 7, a second example of a fastener 112 is made of a strip of sheetmaterial as mentioned above, or by a fibers forming a twine, and here a loop 29 isalready formed at a second end 40, and the boundary wire 5 is thread through the loop29. According to some aspects, boundary wire 5 can be provided to a user with aplurality of pre-thread fastenersAs shown in Figure 8A and Figure 8B, a tool 33 is used to press the first end 26a intothe ground through the ground surface 13 such that the loop 29 with the encircledboundary wire 5 remains above the ground surfaceAs shown in Figure 9A, a third example of a fastener 113 is made of a strip of sheetmaterial or by a fibers forming a twine, as mentioned above, and here there is no loop.lnstead both a first end 26a and a second end 26b are arranged to be pressed into theground through the ground surface 13. The fastened 113 is thus arranged roughlyperpendicular above the boundary wire 5, the boundary wire 5 passing roughly at a middle part of the fastener 113. One or two tools 33 are used for pressing the ends26a, 26b through the ground surface 13 such that a U-shaped fastener 113 is formedaround the boundary wire 5, as illustrated in Figure 9B.
The third example of fastener can be used for automatic or semi-automatic mounting as will be illustrated in the following.
With reference to Figure 10 and Figure 11, illustrating a first mounting example, thereis a plurality of fasteners 113 that are attached to a holding sheet 32 that is arrangedin a roll 30 from which an end of the holding sheet 32 can be unrolled. The fasteners113 are suitably of the kind discussed in the third example above, but other types offasteners are of course conceivable. The mounting is performed by means of afastening tool 34 into which the unrolled end of the holding sheet 32 is fed, and thefastening tool 34 comprises a pressing rod that 38 is adapted to press the ends 26a,26b into the ground, through the surface 13, as shown in Figure 12 such that a U-shaped fastener 1 13 is formed around the boundary wire 5, as illustrated also in Figure9B.
When pressing the pressing rod 38, the fastener 113 that presently is pressed into theground surface 13 is released from the holding sheet 32, and when releasing thepressing rod 38, the mounting position is advanced such that the next fastener 113 inturn is positioned for being pressed into the ground surface 13 at the next mountingoccasion. The fastening tool 34 is here moved along the boundary wireThe roll 30 is shown separate from the fastening tool 34, but can be comprised in thefastening tool 34 as well.
According to some aspects, the pressing rod 38 comprises two separate pressingmembers 47a, 47b, each pressing member 47a, 47b being adapted to press acorresponding outer ends 26a, 26b into the ground.
With reference to Figure 13A-13C, illustrating a second mounting example, there is aroll 41 of fastener material 114, suitable a twine, but other types of fastener materialssuch as sheet materials are of course conceivable. The roll 41 is attached to a fastening tool 42 that comprises a pressing rod 43 and a cutting toolln Figure 13A, a first depression 45 of the fastener material 114 has been made, andthe fastening tool 42 has been moved across a boundary wire 5 such that a seconddepression can be made at another side of the boundary wire 5. ln Figure 13B, thepressing rod 43 is depressed such that a second depression 46 of the fastener material114 is made, and the boundary wire 5 is then pressed against the ground surface 13by the fastener material 114 between the depressions 44,ln Figure 13C, the pressing rod 43 has been released and cutting tool depressed suchthat the fastener material 114 is cut of downstream the depressions 44, 45. Thefastening tool 42 can now be moved along the boundary wire 5 and positioned forcreating a new first depression, second depression and so on. ln this manner a quiteuncomplicated fastener such as a roll of twine can be used and easily applied.

Generally, the present disclosure thus relates to an outdoor media transporting cablefastener 11 adapted for fastening an outdoor media transporting cable 5 onto a groundsurface 13, where each outdoor media transporting cable fastener 11 comprises atleast one end 26a, 26b that is adapted to be inserted into the ground through theground surface 13. Each outdoor media transporting cable fastener 11 is made of a biodegradable material that is constituted by flexible fibers.

According to some aspects, a plurality of boundary wire fasteners 11 are attached to aholding sheet 32 that is arranged in a roll 30 from which an end of the holding sheet 32 can be unrolled.
