Description
20 25 30 534 B22 2 According to a consideration of the invention, the mixer is characterized in that the elements comprise elongate blade elements which are rotated about a longitudinal axis. Because the adjacent elements in the set are consistently designed to generate vortices with different axes of rotation and with mutually opposite directions of rotation in a resulting fate in the fluid line, the adjacent vortices can in this way rotate in opposite directions. As a result, no shear zone is created which brakes the vortices, so that they can continue and mix the fluids over a longer distance in the line.
The mixer can be designed in a number of advantageous embodiments.
According to one embodiment, the elements can be connected to a common frame.
The body can then either be arranged to be connected directly to an inside of the fluid line or to be connected to the discharge line via a holder.
A simple and cost-effective construction can be achieved if the elements are designed in one piece with the frame.
The mixer may further have a holder for connecting the mixer to an injector for addition fl fate. Thereby, the mixer and the injector can form a prepared unit which can simplify the assembly in the fluid line.
The elements can typically be annularly concentrically distributed in the cross-section, possibly close to the center of the cross-section.
Other features and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the claims and the following description of embodiments.

Som ovan omnämnts kan en blandare emellertid även an- vändas för blandning av andra, ej visade kombinationer av gas- och vätskeformiga flöden hos en förbränningsmotor.DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS IN FIG. 1, there is generally shown a mixer 10 incorporated in a fluid conduit 52 of an internal combustion engine 50 for mixing a head de destiny M with an additive fl destiny A. More specifically, the mixer 10 of FIG. 1 in an SCR system where it is arranged in an exhaust pipe 52 of a diesel engine in a motor vehicle 80, for mixing a main fl deserted M of exhaust gases with an injected additive fl deserted A of urea. The resulting mixed fl fate is to be post-treated in a catalytic converter 58 for nitrogen oxides, which may be arranged in a muffler 56. However, as mentioned above, a mixer can also be used for mixing other combinations of gaseous and liquid ej not shown. in an internal combustion engine.
The filler A is injected into the main fuse through a spray nozzle 72 of a diffuser or injector 70, which is fixedly mounted inside the exhaust pipe 52 in a manner not shown in detail. The injector 70 is connected to a conduit 64 which retrieves an additive In line 64 there is a pump 62 for pressurizing the additive fl uiden. The nozzle 72 may typically have a spray character with a relatively short range and relatively small droplets, and may be located relatively close to the mixer 10.
As can be seen in more detail from FIG. 2-4, a mixer 10 has a set of a number of fate control elements 12, which are distributed over a cross section of the mixer 10 or the exhaust pipe 52. As indicated in FIG. 1, the flow control elements 12 are each designed to generate vortices v about different axes of rotation 54 which mix the addition fl of fate with the head fl of fate. adjacent styr fate-controlling elements 12 in the cross-section are moreover consistently designed to give the vortices v a mutually opposite direction of rotation about the different axes 54.
The mixer 10 and the fate control elements 12 can be designed in many different ways within the scope of the invention. l the execution form according to FlG. 2-4, the mixer 10 comprises a piece of metal pipe which is provided with an even number from a downstream end, e.g. eight, longitudinal slits.
The axes delimited between the slits have then been rotated about their longitudinal axes successively alternating opposite directions. The flaps rotated in this way thus form a coaxial set of vortex-forming elements 12 according to the invention.
The remaining upstream part of the mixer 10 forms a body 16 which can serve to anchor the mixer 10 in the exhaust pipe. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the mixer 10 includes a plurality of spokes or radial support flanges 18 extending between the body 16 and an outer cylindrical holder 20. The holder 20 of FIG. 4 may be fixedly connected to the inside of the exhaust pipe 52 by suitable fasteners, not shown. It may also be soldered or welded to the exhaust pipe 52, or may be expanded by heat or spring force for fixation to the inside of the exhaust pipe 52. In the latter case, the holder 20 can also be accommodated in a circumferential groove (not shown) at the inside. As indicated in FIG. 1, it is also possible to have mixer 10 and injector 70 pre-installed in a separate pipe section 52 'of the exhaust line 52.
In FIG. 5 shows the possibility of allowing the mixer 10 to be fixedly connected to the injector 70 via a holder 20. The holder 20 can for instance be designed as a cage, which is suitably attached to the injector 70, e.g. through spokes not shown.
The above detailed description is primarily intended to facilitate understanding and any unnecessary limitations of the invention should not be construed as such. The modifications that become apparent to one skilled in the art upon review of the specification may be practiced without departing from the spirit of invention or the scope of the appended claims. As some examples of modifications, it can be mentioned that the mixer can be used in an analogous manner to mix exhaust gases with fresh air supplied to the engine in an EGR system for an internal combustion engine. Furthermore, the engine may be other types of internal combustion engines such as an otto engine. Instead of mixing urea in the exhaust gases, it may be a matter of mixing other types of medium in an SCR system such as ammonia or solutions containing ammonia. Some exhaust gas cleaning systems include an filter that traps particles in the exhaust stream, which filter can be cleaned by injecting a hydrocarbon (fuel) into the exhaust stream to raise the exhaust temperature, just like a combustion. A mixer described above can also be used for this purpose.
