Abstract

The graphical user interface system permits effective navigation in a media sequence, which can be either a sequence of continuous media, such as an audio sequence, a video sequence or an audio-visual sequence. Further, the media sequences are suitably inwardly played, buffered or stored in some way or other. A video display unit (1) is involved, and the graphical user interface comprises an interactive menu overlay (2), which comprises three panels (2a,2b,2c), representative of three differently accessible alternatives for a user, via which media sequences can be paused (2b), wound forwards (2c) and wound backwards (2a).
