Abstract
Description
00000 10 15 20 25 30 35 525 423 2 .ou oo o o o ø o o u o n '' 'n u o ztion with another person, such a separate microphone and separate speakers (or microphone and speakers built into the computer) can of course be used. Often, however, call conversation via the computer's regular microphone and speakers does not work particularly well. A user therefore often finds that it is more comfortable to talk with the help of a regular telephone where a handset is held to the ear or where a headset is arranged on the head.
In addition, more and more people are now using the computer in an office landscape or in a room where other people are present. It can then be considered disturbing that call conversation takes place via the loudspeakers, since sound also reaches the people who are nearby. If, in addition, the conversation is confidential, it is of course a great disadvantage that this is conducted via loudspeakers that several people can hear.
OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a unit which avoids the problems described above. Another object is to provide such a device which is considered to be advantageous by a user when call communication takes place via the computer. An additional purpose is to provide such a device that can be used alongside, for example, the computer's standard external speakers. Another object is to achieve such a unit which is thereby activated and deactivated in a simple manner at the same time as such external speakers are deactivated and activated, respectively.
These objects are achieved with a unit of the type described in the first paragraph above and which is characterized in that said unit comprises a switching means with at least a first and a second switching state. The unit is arranged so that, when the unit is connected as intended to said computer and the switching means is in said first switching state, the unit is connected for use for call communication via the computer so that said microphone part and said ears - loudspeaker part is active while said table or floor loudspeaker or built-in loudspeaker is not active. In said second switching state, at least said ear speaker part is not active while said table or floor speakers or built-in speakers are active.
It should be noted that the term "call communication" in this context mainly means that calls can be made with another person via, for example, the Internet, but that the term can also include the case where the "call" only takes place against the computer itself, for example by entering commands and sound generated by the computer is heard in the earpiece part.
It should also be noted that when a speaker or microphone is said to be "active", it means that this speaker or microphone is connected so that sound can be generated by the speaker and so that sound can be transmitted by the microphone. microphone is not active, it means that these can not be actively used to reproduce or input sound.
It should also be noted that the ear speaker part can be intended for one ear or for both ears. For example, if stereo sound is to be reproduced, the ear speaker part suitably consists of two speakers which are arranged at the ears of a user. The microphone can also be a mono or stereo microphone.
With the unit according to the invention, a switching can thus take place in a simple manner between said first and second switching states. For example, a person working at the computer may normally use the computer's built-in or external 'speakers. The switching means is thus in the said second switching state. When the person in question wishes to carry out, for example, a call with another person, the switching device is switched to the first state. Thus, a user can conveniently use the device for call communication. When 525 423 4 o u n o o o o o u o oo. Q | Q n I 0 0 I 0 Û; o o o o o o 0 in the call is over, easy switching can take place to the second switching state so that the user can continue working with the computer with the computer speakers active. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the unit comprises a cable which on the one hand is connected to or arranged to be connected to said microphone part and ear loudspeaker part and on the other hand is arranged to be connected at least to said computer. With the aid of such a cable, a secure connection can be established between the device and the computer.
The cable may be provided with at least a first contact means and a second contact means, the first contact means being arranged to be connected to the computer and the second contact means being arranged to be connected, for example via a further cable, to said table or floor-standing speakers. The unit can thus be easily connected between the computer and the computer's table or floor speakers. According to an alternative embodiment, the unit comprises a transmitter means arranged so that the unit can communicate wirelessly with said computer, the transmitter means being arranged so that when said switching means is in or switched to said first switching state, the transmitting means transmits a control signal to A corresponding receiver means connected to the computer, so that the control signal causes that when the switching means is in the first switching state the computer is arranged so that the unit is connected for use for call communication via the computer while said table or floor loudspeaker or built-in speaker is not active. Thus, according to this embodiment, no cable is needed between the device and the computer. Instead, signals are transmitted wirelessly. 5.:* According to yet another embodiment, the unit is arranged so that when the unit is connected as intended to said computer and the switching means is in said first switching state, it is 10 15 20 25 30 35 (Il FO U ' said microphone part is active while any built-in microphone of the computer or a separate microphone to which the computer is connected is not active, wherein when the switching means is in said second switching state, said microphone part is inactive while said any built-in microphone of the computer or said separate microphone to which the computer is connected is thus active, this embodiment is thus particularly advantageous if the computer also has another microphone connected to or built into the computer. The microphone part of the unit according to the invention thus takes over the microphone function when the switching device is in the first switching state.
The cable may also be provided with a third contact means and a fourth contact means, wherein the third contact means is arranged to be connected to the computer and the fourth contact means is arranged to be connected, for example via an additional cable, to said separate microphone. The unit can also be easily connected between the computer and the separate microphone.
According to yet another embodiment, the first contact means is a standard male contact which is designed to be inserted into the corresponding female contact which constitutes the computer input of the computer, said second contact means being a standard female contact which is designed to receive a corresponding male contact on a cable from said table or floor loudspeaker, said third contact means being a standard male socket designed to be inserted into the corresponding female connector constituting the microphone input of the computer and said fourth contact means being a standard female socket designed to receive a corresponding male connector on a cable from said separate microphone. Because the connectors are standard, no modification is required of the computer or of the computer's external speakers or microphone. Instead, the entire cable from the device can be easily connected between the computer and such external speakers or external microphone. The switching means may be designed to be manually switched by the user between the first and second switching states. The switching means can also be designed to automatically switch between said first and second switching states. A manual switching can, for example, take place via a manual switch arranged on the unit. Because the switching means are made automatically, the user does not have to manually switch the switching means. Instead, switching takes place automatically, for example when the user lifts the unit to hold it against or attach it to the head. The object of the invention is also achieved with a computer system comprising a unit according to any of the preceding embodiments and said computer with at least one loudspeaker which may be a table or floor loudspeaker or which may be built into the computer. The system thus includes both the computer, the computer's speakers and the device. A separate computer microphone may also be included in the computer system. With such a system, the advantages described above are achieved.

These inputs are often located on the back of the computer unit 17. The aisles are usually of standard format. An input 41 may, for example, be a female connector which constitutes the speaker input of the computer 16. Another input 43 may be, for example, a female connector which constitutes the microphone input of the computer 16. The computer 16 is usually connected to various peripherals. Fig. 1 schematically shows a loudspeaker 18 which may, for example, be a table or floor loudspeaker. A cable 24 extends from the speaker 18. At the end of the cable 24 is a male connector 42 of standard format which is adapted to be inserted into the corresponding male connector 41 of the computer 16. Fig. 1 also schematically shows a separate microphone 36 which can be connected to the computer 16. A cable 38 extends from the microphone 36. At the end of the cable 38 a male connector 44 is arranged. This male connector is suitably of standard size and adapted to be inserted into the corresponding female connector 43 of the computer 16.
It should be noted that it is also conceivable that the computer 16 instead has built-in speakers and / or a built-in microphone. Fig. 32 schematically shows an embodiment of a microphone / ear loudspeaker unit 10 according to the invention. The unit 10 has a microphone part 12 and an ear speaker part 14. These parts are arranged on the unit 10 so that when the unit 10 is used as intended, the ear speaker part 14 is arranged at or held against the ear of a user while the microphone part 12 is arranged in close proximity. of the user's mouth. The unit 10 can thus be designed in a similar way as a standard telephone handset. Alternatively, the unit 10 may also be designed as a headset (not shown in the figures) attached to the head. The unit 10 can be connected to a computer 16 to enable call communication via the computer 16. The unit 10 has a switching means 20 which has at least a first and a second switching state. When the unit 10 is connected to the computer 16, the unit 10 is connected for use for call communication via the computer when the switching means 20 is in the first switching state. In the first switching state, the microphone part 12 and the ear loudspeaker part 14 are active while a table or floor loudspeaker 18 or a built-in loudspeaker in the computer 16 is not active. However, in the second switching state, the table or floor speaker 18 or a built-in speaker in the computer 16 is active while the ear speaker portion 14 is not active. The switching states will be described in more detail in connection with Fig. 4 and Fig. 5.
The unit 10 has a cable 22 containing wires connected to the microphone part 12 and the ear speaker part 14. At the other end of the cable 22 there is a first contact means 31, a second contact means 32, a third contact means 33 and a fourth contact means 34. The first contact means 31 is a standard male socket and is designed to be inserted into the female socket 41 which forms the speaker input of the computer 16. The second connector 32 is a standard female connector configured to receive a male connector 42 on the cable 24 from the speaker 18. The third connector 33 is a standard male connector configured to be inserted into the female connector 43 constituting the computer 16. microphone input. The fourth contact means 34 is a standard type female connector designed to receive the male connector 44 on the cable 38 from the separate microphone 36. In this way, the unit 10 can be connected to the computer 16 and with the speaker 18 and the microphone 36.
Fig. 3 schematically shows an alternative embodiment of the unit 10. In this case, the unit 10 has a transmitter means 26. The transmitter means 26 may suitably also comprise a receiver means. The transmitter means 26 is arranged so that the unit 10 can communicate wirelessly with the computer 16. This can be done by radio communication, for example according to the Bluetooth standard. The switching means 20 is thus in this case arranged to actuate the transmitting means 26 so that the transmitting means 26 transmits a control signal to a receiving means 28 which is connected to the computer 16 or which is arranged in the computer 16. The control signal thus gives the computer 16 information about the switching means 20 being in the first or in the second switching state. In the same manner as described above, the computer 16 is arranged so that the unit 10 is connected for use for call communication via the computer when the switching means 20 is in the first switching state. In the first switching state, the speaker 18 is not active.
If a separate microphone 36 is connected to the computer 16, the same applies to this microphone 36 when the switching means 20 is in the first and second switching states, respectively. Thus, in the first switching state, the microphone part 12 is active while the separate microphone 36 is not active. In the second switching state, the microphone portion 12 is inactive while the microphone 36 is active.
The switching means 20 may be designed to be manually switched by the user. The switching means 20 can for instance be constituted by a button arranged - on the telephone handset * as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. Alternatively, it is possible for the switching means 20 to be designed to switch automatically between the first and the second switching state. For example, the unit 10 may contain a sensor that detects if the unit 10 is lying on a table........................................
Such a sensor can, for example, consist of an optical sensor.
As long as the unit 10 is on the table or is placed in another intended place, the switching means 20 is in the second switching state. When the unit 10 is lifted from the table, the switching means 20 transitions to the first switching state. Alternatively, such a sensor can sense when the unit 10 is held against or is attached to the head of the user. in Fig. 4 schematically shows a circuit diagram when the unit 10 is in the first switching state. Different parts that have been described above are schematically marked in Fig. 4 and the same reference number is used. The cable 24 thus emanates from the loudspeaker 18. Fig. 4 shows that the cable contains two conductors. The cable 24 terminates with the contact 42 which is connected to the second contact means 32 of the unit 10. The conductors from the speaker 18 are connected via the cable 22 to the switch means 20. The switch means 20 is connected to the ear speaker part 14. The unit 10 is also via the first contact means 31 is connected to the speaker input 4 of the computer 16. Correspondingly, the cable 38 extends from the microphone 36. The cable 38 terminates with the contact 44 which is connected to the fourth contact means 34. The conductors lead to the switching means 20 which is connected to the microphone part 12. The cable 22 is also connected to the microphone input 43 of the computer 16 via the third contact means 33. For the sake of clarity, in Fig. 4 the wires for the microphone part 12 have been separated from the wires for the ear speaker part 14. The switching means 20 is shown schematically. As can be seen in Fig. 4, the switching means 20 is set so that the microphone portion 12 and the ear speaker portion 14 are connected to the computer 16 while the speaker 18 and the microphone 36 are not connected to the computer 16.
Såsom kan ses av ledningsdragningen i Fig 5 är högtalaren 18 och mikrofonen 36 förbundna med datorn 16 under det att OOOII 0 10 15 20 25 11 I mikrofondelen 12 och öronhögtalaredelen 14 ej är förbundna med datorn 16.Fig. 5 schematically shows the same wiring diagram as Fig. 4 but when the switching means 20 is in the second switching state. As can be seen from the wiring in Fig. 5, the speaker 18 and the microphone 36 are connected to the computer 16 while the microphone part 12 and the ear speaker part 14 are not connected to the computer 16.
It should be noted that the wiring diagram is only a schematic example of how the switching means 20 can be designed. Alternative wiring, however, is obvious to a person skilled in the art. Furthermore, as mentioned above, the speaker 18 and / or the microphone 36 may also be arranged for stereo sound. In this case, there are additional conductors in the respective cables. In case the unit 10 is wirelessly connected to the computer 16, suitable control signals are sent which control the connection and disconnection of speakers 18, microphone 36, microphone part 12 and ear loudspeaker part 14 in the same way as in the example according to Figs. 4 and 5.
The invention also relates to a computer system. This computer system includes the unit 10 together with the computer 16 and at least one loudspeaker 18. This loudspeaker 18 may be a table or floor loudspeaker 18 or a loudspeaker which is built into the computer 16. The computer system may also include a microphone 36.
The invention is not limited to the described embodiments but can be varied and modified within the scope of the appended claims.
