Abstract

The invention relates to an arrangement and user interface to, for mobile terminals, provide access to services, especially via Internet, to an agent-based marketplace AMP. The arrangement includes: At least one mobile terminal (1) with wireless protocol (WAP) and which can be connected to a data communication network (Internet); at least one network server (4) located with an operator in the data communication network; at least one application server (8) located with a service provider which can be accessed via the data communication network. According to the invention, the interface (5) is arranged in the network server (4). The interface is arranged to operate by the wireless protocol towards the mobile terminal, and by one to the service provider adapted protocol towards the service provider. The interface is preferably written on the one hand in Java towards the service provider, and on the other in Jaffa (Java Framework) towards the mobile terminal. By moving the user's logic to a server on the Internet, and utilizing a specific interface, the invention makes it possible that such services can be utilized from a mobile terminal.

Description

Detailed description of preferred embodiments As mentioned in the introduction, systems have been developed for trading services via the Internet. A service provider has application servers that can be accessed via the Internet. On these servers, agents are created that perform services on behalf of the person who wants to buy the service. This is called an agent-based marketplace AMP. Originally, the system was intended for high-capacity desktops with regard to computer power and memory. When you now want to make it possible for mobile users to access services via their mobile terminals, the system must be adapted because the mobile terminals have limited processing power and memory. The mobile terminals are often called thin clients.

There is already a protocol developed for wireless communication, namely WAP (Wireless Application Protocol), which is suitable in the wireless environment WAE (Wireless Application Environment) against the Internet. The software in the application server is generally written in the Java programming language. There is also a specially developed language Jaffa (Java Framework) which consists of J ava classes. Jaffa is adapted so that in standard Java you can write an interface to the functionality in AMP. Jaffa also provides functionality for writing a user interface to WAP in Java. With WML (Wireless Mark-up Language) from WAP, you can describe the user interface to the AMP service, which means that the service can be used on any mobile terminal that supports WAP.

Systemet som införlivar uppfinningen beskrivs schematiskt i figuren. The system incorporating the invention is schematically described in the figure.

The system can be divided into a private domain, an operator domain and the AMP operator's domain. In the private domain is the user or the person who wants to buy a service using a mobile terminal l with WAP.

The operator's domain thus belongs to the telecommunication operator and comprises a modem pool 2, a WAP Gateway 3 and a Web server or network server 4. In the network server, the said user interface 5 is implemented.

In the AMP operator's domain there is a load splitter 6 with associated logic 7 and a number of application servers 8. In each application server different agents are created and acted, here exemplified with WebButler 9. However, the agent can be exchanged for any server software written in Java or with some modification something else.

Agent 9 includes features such as WebButlerManager (Mgr) Graphical User Interface (GUI), WebButlerManager Agent, WebButlerManager Database, AgentFind GUI, AgentFind Agent, and AgentFind Database. These functions are not particularly affected by the present invention.

»nu n a. n u a... un. una u. n n- an; u. nu n o u ua u oo u n nu o n n p »u u. u . . The figure shows that the user interface, which previously normally existed in a desktop computer of the person using the service, has been transferred to the network server 4 and is available as a logic part 5 written in Jaffa. Jaffa is based on Java's servlet structure and 10 o »un. n n nu v. .o .o nu nu o u nu ua u u oo c 1 nu a ~ u o v. n n o. »nu n a. n u a ... un. una u. n n- an; u. nu n o u ua u oo u n nu o n n p »u u. u. . ~. c u. n o 3 has extended this by instead of producing dynamic HTML (HyperText Mark-up Language) from Java code, it produces dynamic WML using standard J ava. In other words, the user experiences the ordered service as a WAP service in his mobile terminal 1. The interface 5 ensures that the WML pages are constantly adapted to what the user does and his settings. From the service provider's point of view, it looks like any other user of the service.

The user interface acts as a communication interface between the WAP browser in the terminal and the agent 9 located on an application server 8.

Jaffa inbegriper också servlet-strukturen för lastdelning, vilket utnyttjas i logiken 7 i lastdelaren 6.Jaffa also includes the servlet structure for load sharing, which is used in the logic 7 of the load splitter 6.

Thus, the invention enables thin clients, such as mobile terminals, to take advantage of the services of an operator providing an agent-based AMP marketplace. The invention is limited only by the following claims.
