Abstract

The equipment includes a support for locating a fixed reference point adjacent to a patient's body. A path is computed and a predefined direction through the puncture entry point is adjusted using the support. An instrument holder moves the puncture instrument along the defined path. Depth of penetration is determined and the extent of the movement of the instrument along the predetermined path is limited.

Description

I 2 fixed in a groove 3 located in a stirrup 4. The stirrup 4 is arranged in a carriage 5, which runs on a guide 6 arranged at one edge of a lying plate 8. With reference to figure 1 in our under treatment application, the difference in relation to our current application is that the guide 6 is designed in a different way, that the screw for displacement in the horizontal direction has been removed, and that a locking rod 7 with swivel head is arranged in the slide 5.

Figure 2 shows in more detail how the carriage 5 is arranged on the lying plate 8. The carriage 5 is provided below with a groove comprising a pair of opposite, pointing L-profiles Sa, Sb facing each other. As can be seen from the cross-sectional view, all angles are right. One edge of the reclining plate 8 is extended and provided with a T-shaped rail or guide 6 along the length thereof. According to a very important aspect of the present invention, the roof of the guide 6 is arched.

As can be seen, the two L-profiles 5a, 5b of the carriage 5 fit into the recesses 6a, 6b of the guide 6 formed by the T-shape, whereby the carriage 5 can in this way slide on the lying plate 8 to the desired horizontal position. When the desired position has been set, this is fixed by means of the locking rod 7. The locking rod 7 is provided with a recess 7a with the same arch as the roof of the guide 6. When the recess 7a is turned and abuts against the roof of the guide 6, the bracket 4 is freely displaceable in the horizontal plane. If, on the other hand, as shown in figure 2, the recess is turned away from the roof of the guide 6, the rod 7 locks the bracket 4 in the set horizontal plane.

Denna plast är lämplig för CT-datortomografi och NMR-tomogra- fi. iíHNHfiii ííllfl \ iHFigure 3A shows a computed tomographic image of a patient lying on a lying plate 8 of a puncture device according to our previously filed Swedish patent application 89 04006-7. We refer in particular to figure 2 in this application where the design of the guide 6 is clearly shown. As can be seen, this design provides powerful artifacts on the computed tomographic image in the form of disturbing streaks of lines emanating from the upper portion of the guide 6. Figure 3B shows a computed tomographic image of a patient lying on a puncture device with a guide 6 according to the present invention. It can be seen that no artifacts, or only negligible ones, do not interfere with the interpretation of the image. This surprising 4 512 538 '* "3 result we have achieved when we discovered that it is not the sharp corners of the guide that cause the artifacts but the flat surfaces. The artifacts occur with differences in density from low to high density, ie in this case In the previously known puncture device, it was very difficult to interpret the images taken just above the guide 6. The curved guide 6 according to the present invention solves this problem in a simple and smooth manner; No explanation for this surprising effect Preferably, microcellular, for the type of radiation used, low-attenuating polyurethane plastic is used for the guide 6. This plastic is suitable for CT computed tomography and NMR tomography.iíHNH fi ii ííll fl \ iH
