Abstract

The method involves monitoring the quality in a multimedia connection and transmitting a stored reference picture when the quality drops below a predetermined value. The reference picture is stored on a command from a user of the transmitter and is transmitted on a command from the user at a freely selected time point. The reference picture is stored in an external data base. The multimedia communication uses differential picture coding and the reference pictures are produced by a video coder. A communication unit contains or is connectable to a data base arrangement for storing a reference picture. A transmitter transmits the reference picture to a receiving communication unit via a multimedia connection and a control unit controls the transmission of the reference picture.
