Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a package having formed a wall panel so that a transparent joint strip constitutes a part of the wall of finished package to enable consumers to see the contents through the strip. CONSTITUTION: A joint strip constitutes a part of the wall 5 of a package 2, and an opening structure 7 is formed on this strip. This means that the joint strip is given a broad structure to constitute the wall 5 of the finished package 2. This strip is made of stiff transparent plastics or its laminate that can be heat-sealed. The open structure part 7 of the package is disposed on the joint strip. The part 7 is punch-holed and is covered with a cover strip 9 that is seal-bonded to the strip.

The package 2 according to the invention consists only of a part of the package laminate 3 and for this purpose a relatively wide plastic strip or splice strip 4 with good transparency is sealed along one material web edge. The splice strip 4 should have such a rigidity that it does not adversely affect the stability of the finished package 2. The plastic of which the splice strip 4 is made must also be heat-sealable so that it can be sealed to the web of material 3 along its one edge and sealed in the tube formation of the filling machine to its other edge. The splice strip 4 is suitably made of a laminate of different plastic layers which satisfies the different requirements placed on the splice strip 4 in terms of heat sealability, transparency, rigidity and as a gas barrier. This results in a splice strip 4 which partly protects the inwardly facing laminate edge of the filling material and partly gives the finished 3 'sus 339 package 2 a wall surface 5 where the consumer can see the enclosed filling material. The width of the splice strip 4 corresponds to approximately half a long side 6 of the finished package 2. By metallizing the splice strip 4, different types of more exclusive packages can be obtained.
