Abstract

The locking circlip (1) fits on the inside (19) in a peripheral groove (9) in one machine component (10), so as to position it axially in relation to a second one (11), which bears against its outer portion (8). To prevent canting in the groove under load, a protrusion (7) is formed on one or both sides of the circlip between the inner and outer parts, so that the inner part is thicker in the axial direction. Any canting causes the protrusion to lock into engagement with the second component, preventing further movement.
