Vid avvikelse mellan dessa antal pâverkas en signalkrets ll, som avger en larmsignal.Signals with a higher amplitude than the reference voltage are assigned a one in the differential amplifier, while signals with a lower amplitude are assigned a zero. The digitized signals are read by the computer 6, where a counter 9 adds all ones according to given conditions. A condition may, for example, be that at least four consecutive ones are required for the counter to add these. After three readings of all diodes without the above-mentioned conditions being met, the counter is read, after which it is reset. A condition for a point to be registered at the passage of the dot pattern 3 past the sensing means is that the counter 9 adds 8305478-3, for example 40 ones. In a register 11, the number of registered points is compared with the number of write elements of the printhead 2. In the event of a deviation between these numbers, a signal circuit 11 is affected, which emits an alarm signal.
