Abstract

1,130,460. Telegraphy. SIEMENS A.G. 23 June, 1966 [24 June, 1965], No. 28106/66. Heading H4P. In an arrangement for generating distorted telegraph signals, each pulse in a sequence of pulses triggers a variable delay whose output and input feeds an arrangement comprising a plurality of gates. The output of the arrangement of gates is a telegraph signal having certain bits lengthened and others shortened. A first embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), comprises a shift register stepped by clock pulses at bitrate. Each stage of the register is connected to a monostable circuit which has a variable relaxation time and which forms the variable delay. The stages are also connected to the gating arrangement, as is the output of the delay. The gating arrangement feeds a connection matrix from which are tapped off outputs corresponding to the various telegraph combinations. The distortion is such that each Mark-Space transition is delayed and each Space-Mark transition undelayed, or vice versa depending on the delay set in the monostable circuit. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), known circuitry generates an undistorted character which is then distorted by a gating arrangement fed by bit-rate clock signals, the undistorted telegraph signal, and the output of the variable delay fed by the telegraph signal.
