Abstract
1,042,424. Hydraulic turbines. T. Z. LITOSTROJ. Feb. 26, 1964 [March 29, 1963], No. 8037/64. Heading F1F. [Also in Division G3 and El] A closure 1 in the lateral outlet of a water turbine, comprises parallel closures 2 connected by links 5 to a rod 6, the rod being connected to pistons 7 of servomotors 8. The closures 2 are pivoted such that flow through the closures acts to provide a force tending to open the closures. The turbine is provided with a blade setting ring 13 connected to pistons 12 of servomotors 11. A pump 17 provides control fluid through a line 16, having a relief valve 20 and through throttle 18 to a line 10 which leads to the servomotors 8 and 11. The opposite ends of the servomotors 11 are connected by a line 23 to an electrically actuated control valve 21 which can connect the line 23 to a reservoir 25 or the line 16. Under normal condition, the valve 22 is actuated in response to changes in load to cause actuation of the blade ring 13, the throttle 18 allowing sufficient flow to prevent a lowering of pressure in the conduit 10. With a sudden increase in load, the line 23 is connected to exhaust to the reservoir 25 and the fluid acting on the closures 2 opens these closures and actuates piston 7 to transfer control fluid to the pistons of servomotors 11 to close the blade ring 12. With decrease in load, control fluid flows to line 23 to open the blade ring 12 and the control fluid is exhausted through non-return valve 18 by actuation of the pistons of servomotors 11. In a modification the servomotor 8 are actuated directly by the valve 22 and are not hydraulically connected to the servomotors of the blade ring.
