Abstract
A converter arrangement (10) for a railway power system comprises at least one input transformer (14) having a first group of primary windings and a second group of secondary windings, an intermediate link (15) having two phases and ground, a voltage source converter (12) having a first and second branch of cells (BR1, BR2) and an output transformer (16) having a primary and secondary side. The first group of primary windings is connected to a three-phase grid, the primary side of the output transformer (16) provides a single-phase voltage (Utrain) for the railway power system, the first and second branches (BR1, BR2) are connected in parallel between the two phases of the intermediate link (15) as well as across the secondary side of the output transformer (16) and the midpoint of each branch (BR1, BR2) is connected to a corresponding secondary winding of the second group of secondary windings.
