Abstract

A method and a control unit of a vehicle for providing an acceleration are presented. The method includes:- determining a desired vehicle speed v;- determining total number of upshift steps Sthe at least one gearbox has to be upshifted to accelerate to the desired vehicle speed v;- determining at least two candidate step sequences SEQ,SEQ, .. . , SEQincluding the determined total number of upshift steps Sdistributed on at least two consecutive upshift steps S,S, S;- determining a first power source speed ωwith which the at least one power source would rotate after the determined total number of upshift steps Swould have been taken by a one-step sequence SEQ;- determining at least two time periods Τ, T, ..., Tit would take for the at least one gearbox to be upshifted the determined total number of upshift steps Sby the at least two candidate step sequences SEQ, SEQ, . . . ,SEQsuch that the at least one power source reaches the determined first power source speed ω, respectively;- choosing a step sequence SEQassociated with a shortest time period T;- controlling the at least one gearbox based on the chosen step sequence SEQ.
