Description
TUBE FOR A PRODUCT IN PASTE OR SEMI LIQUID FORM AND A CAP USEDTOGETHER WITH A TUBE TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The disclosure relates to a tube for a medicine in paste or semi liquid form. Thedisclosure also relates to a cap to be used together With such a tube, preferably a one portion tube for the storage of e. g cream, ointments, liquid plaster and local anaesthetics.BACKGROUND ART
[0002] A medicine in paste or semi liquid form is norrnally used on the skin of a patient toalleviate pain, improve Wound healing or anaesthetize a skin area. Such paste is normally storedin a tube. A nurse or the patient himself has to remove the tube cap and eject the paste from thetube and apply it on the skin. There are several disadvantages With this process. For example,When you Want to squeeze the medicine out of the tube, it is difficult to control the paste beingejected. Normally the paste is ejected directly on the skin area to be treated or on the hand ofthe nurse or the patient, Who thereafter applies the paste on said skin area. It is a risk to eject tomuch medicine, Which should be spread out on a skin area. A further problem With the knowntube is that the user Will get the paste on his at least one finger and the medicine can by mistakebe put in his eye or mouth. Yet a further problem is that the medicine can be contaminated by the contact With the person handling the medicine.SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[0003] It is an object of the present invention to overcome the aforementioned difficulties andproblems of the prior art by provision of a tube, optimised for efficient usage to supplymedicine stored or contained therein, particularly in respect of the ease of eject the product ina proper quantity Without contaminating the medicine by the hands of a user.

[0005] According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided cap to be usedtogether with a tube for a medicine in paste or semi liquid form having a dispensing end suitablefor output of the medicine, wherein the cap provided with an open first and an open secondend, wherein the first end is adapted to be engaged with the dispensing end of the tube andwherein the second end comprises a closing cover, wherein the second end of the cap comprisesan external, annular flange arranged to form an attach surface for the closing cover and to forman applicator for the distribution of the medicine to the skin of a user.
[0006] Optionally the cap can be provided at its first end with a thread to be engaged with acorresponding thread on the dispensing end of the tube.
[0007] Optionally the cap can be snap locked on the dispensing end of the tube.
[0008] Optionally the cap can be integrated or made in one piece with the dispensing end ofthe tube.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
[0009] FIG. l is a perspective view of a tube according to an embodiment of the presentinvention, the figure illustrating in particular a cap provided with an applicator for thedistribution of a medicine on the skin of a user.
[0010] FIG. 2 is another perspective view of the tube of FIG.l, illustrating in particular aclosing cover adapted to close an opening in the tube and prevent unwanted ejection of the medicine.DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
[0011] With reference to FIG. l, there is illustrated, schematically, a tube l, according to oneembodiment of the present invention. The tube l is arranged to accommodate a medicine, suchas cream, ointments and local anaesthetics.
[0012] The tube l includes a dispensing end 2 with a not shown opening to output themedicine. The opening is preferably sealed and has to be punctured before use. A cap 3 isengaged, preferably screwed on the dispensing end of the tube l. I this embodiment the cap hasto be removed before use to puncture the sealed opening of the dispensing end of the tube. Inanother embodiment, preferably when the cap is integrated in the tube and not removable from the dispensing end, the opening of the dispensing end is not sealed.
[0013] The cap has a cylindrical first part 4 and an annular flange 7 provided at the end of thecylindrical part. The flange surrounds the opening of the cylindrical part 4. The flange 7protrudes at an angle, e. g. 90 degrees, with respect to a longitudinal aXis of the cap and the tube1, whereby the flange protrudes radially. The flange is arranged rigid enough to be able to actas the applicator for distribution of the medicine on the skin of a user. In the embodiment shownin FIG. 1, the closing cover 6 is designed to attach against the outside of the flange 7. Theclosing cover closes and/or seals in an antiseptic way the opening 10 of the dispensing end 2of the tube. The closing cover, relevant to the embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 1and, consequently, the tube 1 cannot be re-sealed by the closing cover 6. The closing covercomprises, for example, a foil or a plastic sheet. Said foil, for example, is bound to the cap 3by conventional means. Further, the closing cover is arranged suitably bonded, so that theclosing cover can be torn off and removed from the flange. In a further embodiment of thepresent invention, the closing cover comprises a re-closable, or re-sealable, lid, especiallysuitable where the tube 1 contains a greater variety of medicines and/or is not a one portiontube but comprises a plurality of portions.
[0014] The flange 7 is eccentric with reference to the geometrical axis of the cap. This featuregives two advantages. First, the broader part 9 of the flange provides a broader applicator orspatula, which facilitates the spread of the medicine on the skin of a user. Second, theopposite narrower part 8 of the flange opposite the broader part provides a slot or gapbetween the flange and the skin, when the user squeezes the tube and ejects the paste fromthe tube, wherein a better control of the medicine ejection can be obtained. The eccentricflange makes also the side of tube opposite the spatula weaker than the side adjacent thespatula. By means of this the narrower part of the flange will be folded upwards when thesleeve is squeezed and provides the gap between the flange and the skin. This gap can becontrolled by the squeezing pressure. Furthermore, the narrower part 8 of the flange 7optionally comprises a part with a straight edge, which helps the user to control the speed ofthe ejected medicine and to spread the medicine evenly and as thinly as desired. In essence, the straight edge 8 facilitates manipulation of the medicine, especially once it is output fromthe tube and in contact with the skin.
[0015] In the embodiment shown in fig 1 and 2 the cap 3 is screwed on a threaded head (notshown) at the dispensing end 2 of the tube. In another embodiment the cap can be engaged with the tube by means of a snap fit arrangement. In a further embodiment the cap can be made in one piece With the tube. In such an embodiment said head can be omitted and the cap canconsist of just an eccentric flange arranged and integrated With the tube dispensing end.[0016] The cap according to the invention can be used as an accessory to a tube provided Witha conventional cap. Such a tube can be sold together With a cap according to the presentinvention in the same package.
[0017] Although embodiments of the invention are described in the foregoing together With amedicine, it Will be appreciated that the invention can be used together With other products inpaste or semi liquid form, e. g. food, glue and cosmetic products.
[0018] Although embodiments of the invention are described in the foregoing, it Will beappreciated that the present invention is also susceptible to being implemented in manyembodiments, depending on the particular application and implementation of form.
[0019] Modifications to embodiments of the invention described in the foregoing are possibleWithout departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the accompanying claims. 77 LL Expressions such as “including , 77 LL comprising , 77 LL incorporating , 77 LL' 77 consisting of", “have , is used to describe and claim the present invention are intended to be construed in a non-eXclusivemanner, namely allowing for items, components or elements not eXplicitly described also to bepresent.
