Abstract

Method and arrangement for monitoring the functioning of an exhaust gas after treatment system (2) of a motor vehicle, wherein: a first curve is established based on measuring values from a sensor (11) as to the magnitude of a parameter related to exhaust gases flowing out of an exhaust gas after treatment appliance (5) during an evaluation period; a second curve is established based on values of the magnitude of the parameter during the evaluation period calculated by means of a calculation model; it is establish whether or not the curve shape of the second curve resembles the curve shape of the first curve; and information regarding the functioning of the exhaust gas after- treatment system is generated based on measuring values from the sensor and corresponding calculation values from the calculation model during the evaluation period, only if the curve shape of the second curve resembles the curve shape of the first curve.
