Abstract

Treatment of sludge involves addition of acid such as potassium, sodium, and/or ammonium sulfate to the sludge and subjecting to at least one membrane filtration process to obtain a permeate or concentrate including trivalent aluminum and/or iron ions in solution that are crystallized in a precipitation. The precipitation is subjected to a product adaptation step. - The crystallization is performed at low temperature or after an adjustment of pH by adding e.g. potassium hydroxides, sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium oxide and/or magnesium carbonate. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a construction for treatment of sludge.
