Abstract

The sensor chip (23) has a mounting base (24) that extends in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the sensor chip. The core wire (22) is mounted on mounting base, such that clearance (27) is obtained between pressure sensitive end (25) of the sensor chip and core wire. The sensor may be in the form of a membrane with piezoresistive elements. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) sensor guide wire assembly; and (2) method of manufacturing a silicon sensor chip.
