Abstract

The cooling device (2) comprises a heat exchanger (8) with a casing (10) made from a high thermal conductivity material, preferably aluminium, containing at least one channel for compressed air leaving the compressor (14) and at least one channel for air entering the compressor. The two channels are thermally connected via the casing. Air inside the channel used to supply the compressor is kept at essentially the same temperature as the ambient atmosphere and is used to cool the compressed air leaving the compressor.
